Aroma is unusually hoppy for an imperial stout. Slight coffee scent and malts also detected in scent. Flavor is very hoppy with hints of coffee and sweet chocolate. Different, but great. Good nose,Coffee, though kinda concentrated, little viney/woody, ABV, maybe metallic, dried fruit, date or plum.Clean reddish/brownish black color. No light goes through though. Small brownish head that faded quickly. Bitter flavors, burnt roasty. Charred wood, coffee, as if its been on the burner a while, grape, viney, carmel, chocolate. Full bodied, lite creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter vinous finish, warming. Nice brew, though I’m not a fan of the viney thing. Pours rather black with a very dark brown almost milk chocolate head that is large and lingering. The aroma is big esters and dark fruits and the flavor is sweet at first with a smooth transition to roasted malts, chocolates, and coffees, which leads to a crisp dry American finish. Pretty good stuff! fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Bottle. Aroma started off as alcoholic raisin (overwhelmingly) with a nice hop background, but as time went on, chocolate popped up, and as more time went on coffee popped up, as both took their appropriate spots without making much of a fuss. Flavor was much more balanced from the beginning, with (non-alcoholic) raisin, prune, maybe even cherry, chocolate, tons of roasted malt, and still a nice hop background that let the malt do the talking but played its role nicely. Also a very drinkable imperial stout I found. Great great stuff. Allen (1430), Switzerland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Bottled 355ml. It pours a pitch black beer with a smallish creamy cappucino head. Strong, deeply inviting aroma of bittering hops, coffee, dark chocolate, mango, plums and licorice all-sorts. Complex taste with a bitterness which is quite present. A lot of mango showing up again which is accompanied by coffee, licorice and nougat. Full bodied with a creamy palate. Peppery. Wonderful long bitter finish which is reminiscent of plums, dark chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, heather and sage. Flawless. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Black. Thick, creamy, light brown head leaves a layer of lacing as it settles. Resinous piney hops jumped in my nose as soon as I cracked the cap. Poisonous citrus rind, roasty mocha, and subtle vinous anise working the olfactory, also. Flavor adds sweet, burnt, and ashy notes. Full, smooth, viscous palate. Great brew. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
