Aroma is of roasted malts, bitter coffee and chocolate. Flavour has in addition a lot of pine hops. No subtilities here, which makes it a great imperial stout. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

A deep black beer with a welcoming look. Lots of malty sweetness and hops with grapefruittaste. Coffee, chocolate and a wonderful aromatic finish. Could be a little bit less sweet. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 8, 2004 22 oz bottle (2003 Yeti version): gorgeous pour -> incredibly opaque black, with a fluffy, tight dark red-brown head. Red-gold lace. Pungent aroma of campfire, tar, burnt vanilla beans, melted dark chocolate, maple infused sap, and just a whisper of the American hops. Wicked flavour of bitter, piney coffee, chocolate milk, molasses, charred oak, and black cherry skins. Mouthfeel is thick, viscous and all around sticky, but is missing the velvety carbonation evident in the best examples. Ah, hop burps…hops definitely dominate and actually the palate gets pretty acidic, but the overall flavours make this one truly interesting and greatly enjoyable. nickd717 (1389), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2009 A very solid (but not standout) imperial stout, which is quickly becoming my favorite style of brewski. Roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate on the aroma. Has most of your standard American RIS flavors: coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Also adds vanilla, bourbon, and more hop bitterness than usual. Nice full and smooth palate. A very good beer, but doesn’t quite stand up to something like AleSmith Speedway Stout. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Bottle. Pitch black, oily pour yields aromas of tar, leather, molasses, milk duds, vanilla, coffee and alcohol. Flavor is quite bitter. Obviously, lots of roasted malt. Some dark, bitter chocolate, molasses, alcohol and strong, oily espresso. Full bodied, creamy with good carbonation. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Fragrant malt cocoa aroma, nice smooth texture, rich mocha taste, with a velvety chacolate syrup aftertaste. Excellent brew, I enjoyed this more than the Hercules NoiZe (1381), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands
