Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle, from lumpy, thanx man. Poured black and thick, like used motor oil. cannot see any light through this bad boy. Tight, creamy rich brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate and roasted malts. Oh, mmmmmm. Sweet candy chocolate with a caramel back bone followed bye a hoppy-pine finish. This clings to my mouth. Feel full and decadent. As this warms, the hops really come foward and almost dominate, which is OK by me. The final sweetness is blended with the alcohol, which at 9.5%, is going to pack a wallop when I work my way through 22oz bottle of Black lushes hoopy love.

Pours wonderfully inky black. Even the head is dark. Very pretty. Aroma is smooth roasts, coffee, cocoa and carmel. Something mildy vinous there too. Body is big and mouthfilling. Like espresso, best in small sips. Tastes of bitter chocolate and red wine, yet manages to avoid being harsh or biting. Hop presense minimal at first (amazing at 75 IBUs!), but builds in subsequent tastes. A superb, wonderfully balanced Imperial Stout. And a cool label to boot.

I sampled the Great Divide Yeti before noon and after finishing a chicory coffee. The coffee and Yeti complimented each other. Impressive look to this imperial stout. Gingerbread colored head and a dark brown sugar color to the body. Further greeted by a roasted aroma. This is one complex imperial stout. Piney green hops blended with caramel, toffee, and malt. Superior beer.

A very solid (but not standout) imperial stout, which is quickly becoming my favorite style of brewski. Roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate on the aroma. Has most of your standard American RIS flavors: coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Also adds vanilla, bourbon, and more hop bitterness than usual. Nice full and smooth palate. A very good beer, but doesn’t quite stand up to something like AleSmith Speedway Stout.

2003 Bomber Bottle: This one poured an almost black color, even a bit oily. Some dark tan head to it. The nose is sweet, with hints of chocolate and toffee. This is a full bodied beer. A suprising lack of roastiness to the taste. Subtle taste of chocolate, and some hidden fruitiness. A hint sweet, with hops hiding in the background. The alcohol is well hidden. A delicious brew. Thanks to TAR for the trade!

Ahh ... lost notes, but the memory lingers .. deep, rich and satisfying. One of those sweetNbitter combos that I go for in a big way. Now I need to dig in that closet I call a cellar and see if I have another ...

Black color with a dark brown foam...nice...a coffee and chocolate dominated nose with hints of the awaiting hops. Flavour is strong, fruity and sweet with nice aromatic hoppiness. Liquorice aftertaste. Mouthfeel is creamy. I really love this beer.
