Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Pitch black body with a light brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with some dark chocolate sweet notes and a nice hoppy touch. Sweet chocolate flavor with hints of some coffee. Finish has a lovely dry bitterness.

Black coloured with brown head. Chocolate, liquorice and malts in the aroma. Smooth and sweet flavour with powerful notes. Some coffee and hop bitterness in the finish. Smooth and well rounded.

Complex, citrus and resinous hop biospheres merging over roasty, dark chocolate lands...A masterful proliferation of cereals and molasses keeps both worlds within grasp and evokes raucous sensuality...Even throughout, a galant glass proffering gorgeous gluttony...

Pours brown with a sparse but stubborn tan head. Smells of tarte malt, cherries, chocolate and spices. Tastes of spices and boozy.

Bottled Maverick Imp. 2003: Pitch black coloured. Huge brown long lasting head. Impressive. Coffee, roastyness, tart, malt and cocoa in the aroma. Really makes me want to sniff the liquid up in the nose. Creamy, soft and smooth mouthfeel. Coffee, chocolate, liqouorice, malt, hops and some delightfull sweetness in the flavour. This is liquid for the gods. Ends up in a balanced roasty bitterness in the end that makes you fly away on a sky. Totally addictive brew. For me this was the top runner of the nights tasting including several top notch Belgian and American brews. Thanks to Raindog for sending this.

650 ml bottle. Pitch black wiht a gorgeous thick dark brown head and very sticky lacing. Aroma is also rich and sweet, heavy malt, molasses, caramel, prune, vanilla, blackberry, underneath a massive bitter cocoa and intense roasty aroma. Flavour is of coffee, dark fruit, soy sauce and faint licorice. Massive roasty flavour with a big bitter finish. A bit bitter than I’d ordinarily like, but still very enjoyable.

Bottled. Jet black, even more black, and topped by a creamy tan head. Coffee, hops and hints of chocolate in the aroma. The flavor has a lot of sweetness and there’s roasted malt and coffee. Full-bodied and dry, with a finish of sweetness, alochol and some chocolate. The promised bitterness is well hidden, but that’s ok. This is a really nice beer, but if I could choose, I would go for the oak aged version. (060704)

Aroma is a mixture of grassy C-hop scents and burnt pancakes. Appropriately thick, no doubt about that. Creamy in texture, a bit of a lactic or milky note that I also get in the oak-aged version. Finished with a residue of creamy black malts, grassy fresh hops and a light smoke note. The orange/copper bubbles look perfect.
