Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Slightly sour aroma with hints of molasses, chocolate, raisen and leather. Absolutely pitch black with a lingering, small, tan creamy head. The density of the body is what hits your mouth first. What follows is a symphony of flavors that changes as it rolls across your tongue. The standard roasted/burnt flavors are complimented by rich caramel...hey wait that’s what the commercial description says. There are also satisfying flavors port and wet earth. The finish is excellent for such a hefty ale. It has a nice hop bite with a bitter kick and relatively low sweetness. My favorite of the "Maverick" line.

Pretty much like the others say: Very nice dark black color. Nice roasted malty flavor. Chocolate, liquorice. smooth.
Too much to add, too little to say :)

Pours a pitch black with thick tall head, and good lacing. Smoke, chocolate, coffee, sweetness, and some hops in the aroma. Good roasted flavor of chocolate, coffee, bittersweetness, some caramel and toffee notes. Excellent brew.

(bottle) Looks oily when poured, but then a huge dark tan head blossoms. Aroma of coffee and molasses. Flavor is roast coffee, hints of dark chocolate and sweet molasses. Alcohol in the finish, especially as it warms.

GABF 2004. Black with a small, light-brown head. Fair lacing. Roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, black licorice and molasses. Quite a heavy bitterness, the hops really came out to play here. Medium-bodied. Overall, I’d say that this is on par with some of the other big Imperial Stouts coming out around the US of A. I always like to find more of a piney hopiness to the aroma of my Imperial Stouts, however.

Thick, dark, roasty, heavy and caramel-malted aroma. Opaque, with a small head. Some lactose, slightly sour flavor. Not quite as well-balanced as some other I.S.’s. Indeed, like the commercial description says, it is unusually hoppy. The alcohol is quite obvious.

Very black with a big dark brown head. Aroma of roast and chocolate. Very smooth, thick and creamy. Flavor is very malty and roasted with plenty of hops on the finish.

Black body, brown creamy head; Quite big nose, could be both deeper and more complex: a little oxidized sour, brown sugar, later a little licorice and coffee. Nothing is really distinctive in the nose and it lacks clarity; A little creamy textured, a little soft carbonation, balanced to the salty side; Into long finish, again a bit salty, but also a little bitter with some alcohol present, the aroma in the finish is clearer: some hop (pine+flowers), bitter licorice and acidy coffee. This beer lacks a lot of balance.
