Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottled. Jet black, even more black, and topped by a creamy tan head. Coffee, hops and hints of chocolate in the aroma. The flavor has a lot of sweetness and there’s roasted malt and coffee. Full-bodied and dry, with a finish of sweetness, alochol and some chocolate. The promised bitterness is well hidden, but that’s ok. This is a really nice beer, but if I could choose, I would go for the oak aged version. (060704)

This pours out of the bottle like my Mom’s coffee used to pour, dark brown and very, very thick. The beer has a nice dark brown head... Mom’s coffee’s was white. Great smokey, chocolatey aroma with a hint of the higher abv. Very smooth to drink, full bodied and tasty. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke, witha dash of bitterness in the finish. A great Winter warmer. Well.. it’s working well in the Fall, too.

Lutulent, near black opaque liquid. One of the darkest head in memory. Amomas of sweet roasted malt, sweet german chocolate, sorghum, and syrup with overtones of hops. Definately thick and chewy. Initial charcoal and malt flavors surrender to rich heavy chocolate. Just thinking about it make me want to pour this over some ice cream. Finish is more acidic and piney. Anouther difficult rate tonight! I really enjoy the thickness and malt and chocolate flavors, but the near stinging acidity near the end brings it down. I will certainly set a few of these down.

Bottle@Home, Feb 09, 3.8: Had this so many times by now and it’s still great. But I also had so many other Imps now that I start to recognize the great from the god-like ones. And this isn’t god-like, just great. Too one dimensional in the flavor. Bottle@LCRBM, Oct 05, 4.1: Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and blackcurrant. Black color, firm brown head, good lace, pours very thick. Strong flavors, sweet, strong roasted coffee, very bitter, very full and thick. Great example of the style.

Pitch black oily color. Molasses & coffee, sweet roast, licorice & soy sauce (light). Bitter up front taste with sweet sharp roast & soy sauce. Bitter, smokey roast, creamy & lively. Hyper hot chocolate finish. Sharp astringency & smooth chocolate roast. Tasted side by side with the barrel aged.

Black beer. Oily consistency, coating the glass. Reminiscent of coal tar. Big chocolate and coffee essence aroma, which always goes down well with me in not exactly subtle. More restrained coffee on the palate, burnt malt and an unexpected bitter hoppy character. Undoubtedly a massive beer, but I’m not entirely sure that all the elements integrated happily. Still enjoyed it though. Bottle, courtesy Joet, January 2005.

Bottle. Large rocky light brown head that lasted thru the brew. Aroma was a heavy molasses and coffee. Full creamy body. Flavor was heavy complex sweet with a light bitter finish. Good brew.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a small tan head. Hoppy aroma with some hints of pine needles and chocolate. Malty hoppy flavor with hints of licourice and chocolate. Long hoppy finish. Very lovely imperial stout.
