Rolled out of the bottle like warm black ink, and topped with a nice caramel crown of head. Aroma is heavy on the roasted malts, with undertones of coffee, toffee, chocolate, caramel, and some hops that add a nice twist to the style. The hops are also prominently featured in the quite complex flavor profile. Chocolate and coffee malts hit the palate first, with toffee and some citrusy hops toward the back. Long roasty finish with a nice hop twist. Heavily-bodied, but very smooth mouthfeel. The Yeti rocks! I like his style. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2004 Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted with some chocolate. It had less coffee than i expected. when swirled it left a tan oily film on the glass. Flavor is roasty, sweet, bittersweet chocolate with some soy sauce tang at the very end. Finished with hop bitterness and alcohol warmth. Medium bodied. Sammy (4065), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Bottle (650ml) - Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev - courtesy of yours truly. Poured black, with a good dark brown head - a thing of beauty (oh, belt up, jerc! I know it wasn’t perfect...). A feast for the nose - oak, other woods, resin, a mix of dark roast malts, some oils (lemon, juniper), plenty of hops, as well as fruit, raisins, alcohol. Taste - well, quite a lot of roasted, almost burnt malt, chocolate, and a virtual avalanche of different hops, fresh cream; it starts dark malt/hoppy and finishes very hoppy, almost to harshness. Mouthfeel is at least medium bodied, bitter and alcoholic. I liked it a lot, but the Oak Aged Yeti is a full cut above - this one is a little to hop-demanding and not as harmonious as I would like. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 29, 2003 Eclipse black color. Large tannish head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate, hops and dark fruit. A full-bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are very roasty, with a pronounced chocolate and coffee flavor. Hops are grapefruity, herbal and piney and very pronounced for an imperial stout. Extremely smooth and creamy tasting. A slight touch of an alcohol bite at 9.5%. Hints of vanilla and dark fruit. A very nice, very drinkable Imperial Stout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. jerc (3964), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Black body, small but creamy chocolate coloured head. (3+) Oily palate coats the glass. Lacklustre sweet malt in the aroma does little to support the dominant mild roast. Flavour is surprisingly bitter and hoppy. Malt and chocolate notes seem quite subdued compared the bitterness of the roast and hoppy bite. I am not appreciating the hop presence in the same way as in say Alpha Klaus or Bear Repulic’s stout, and I am not sure why. Medium palate. Much less rounded than the Oak Aged version. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black body with a dark tan head. Roasty coffee and chocolate malt, vainlla, with a complex but not cloying hoppiness. I felt this one came together better than the oak aged version.
