Darkest beer I’ve had in a while. Nice tan head forms quick and rises. A hint of red comes from the edge of my glass. Roasted barley, coffee, toffee and chocolate aromas. Full bodied, sweet, but not too, sharp roasted malt flavors - cold coffee, bitter chocolate and a linger dryness. A fantastic beer. Oak age Imperial is good too - had it at the Flying Saucer in San Antonio - what a treat! YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

Nose was coffee, chocolate, some anise, bit of citrus. Full bodied and intense flavored. Flavor held some sweetness and the robust coffee/chocolate notes of the style. Very warm and rewarding and satisfying. Excellent stout.

Very tastey and sweet. Not enough hops, i feel. But still awesome. Very thick black and brown head. I still don’t understand the lame labels of this brand for such solid products. (Rerate) I haven’t had an imperial stout in ages. Holy shit. This is fucking amazing.
Rerate (4/7/09) I’ve been scamming the local grocery store by buying 12oz singles of this at $1.19 for the last 4 months. So I’ve had a good amount of them recently and they aren’t as great as i remember. xenthem0nk (101), Oregon, USA

Lots of roasted malt in the nose, coffee, and hops. Flavor is deep and warm, definately a sipper. Mouthfeel is fullbodied, not sharp, smooth going down. A great Impy stout. Better then its oak aged counter brew. kms399 (267), plymouth, Minnesota, USA

Roasted toffee flavor and a subtle sweetness balanced with a good alcohol presence. Overall, a delicious imperial stout. Thanks CaptainCougar! harrisoni (6947), Ashford, Kent, England

I had the oak aged version 2 years ago and was probably at the time my first big US Impy Stout and I was blown away by it. So a couple of year down the road, what do I think of this one? It’s black and viscous. Thick tan head. Aroma of heavy hop, lots of oily roasted malts. Lots of hop and choc. I do really rather like it. Lots of choc. Very oily in mouth. Not too much carbonation. Lots of everything actually. So much choc. It’s lovely. Lots of hops on end. Gorgeous. Really smooth in mouth too. I guess with these big beers, you either like them or not or have a particular favourite, well this one I think is one of my favourites, not quite Speedway, but close.
