Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Black color with a dark brown foam...nice...a coffee and chocolate dominated nose with hints of the awaiting hops. Flavour is strong, fruity and sweet with nice aromatic hoppiness. Liquorice aftertaste. Mouthfeel is creamy. I really love this beer.

22oz bomber. is there any other way to have a beer than, after pouring a glass, knowing you have a nice little refill at the bottom of the glass? here i have a thick molasses-esque hue with a foamy and glistening cargo-brown head. sticking my nose in this beer couldn’t have been more appetizing. simply from the aromas i gathered it’s a creamy thick stout with multiple layers of complexity that could surface with the right audience. at the forefront there are thick caramel malts, as well as creamy bittersweet chocolate. peeling back a layer, there’s a mily element that mixes with nature; spruce, pine, and dirty earth. and on the tail end, there’s a pleasant, though faint, island fruit (mango, passion fruit, starfruit) aroma. the taste leaves me taken aback. perhaps on the top 3 of best impy stouts i’ve ever had a chance to experience. everything that is in the aroma is also present in the taste. In addition, the pine blends with a touch of oak and molasses, and finishes rather dry (for a stout) and complemented by the nicities of chill spice. though a stout, not as heavy as i would have originally thought. the hops are definitely well configured into the beer as well, as it’s not overly hopped but also very detectable, even to the younest of palates. the mouthfeel increases Yeti’s drinkability, but be forwarned...it’s a high alc. possibly a perfect stout.

22oz bottle. Chocolate, rusty, roasted smell. Sweet chocolate taste, followed by a bitter roasted flavor. This is followed by a strong coffee aftertaste that lingers for a few seconds. Thick, syrupy, sticky, chewy mouth feel. Mild carbonation. IMHO this imperial stout has a better taste than the other big names. It’s more chocolatey and sweeter than the others.

This year’s Yeti is even better than last year. What a wicked bottle oily goodness. One of my favorites of the year, and if you can find it, you gotta try it!

I love this beer very much! Nice dark-opaque coffee color with a bit of a bitter-sweet. Loaded with hops and balanced well with a cherry-chocolate like flavor. Very nice!

This is everything I’d expect from an Imperial stout and more. Very very smooth beer can brighten a cold winter evening. I’d given it a 20, but I’m reserving that score until I try a bottle of the oak aged I’ve been saving.

smellls of sweet roasted malts, carmel, and a hint of citrusy hops. syrupy texture and black in color with a dark brown orange head. oily palate. i definitly notice the hops underneath the roasted chocolate malts. tastes of chocolate covered oranges. similar to a rogue stout with the hop content. unique and enjoyable. great find.--11/2/05-- re-rate- well, it’s been a long time since i’ve had this one, so i decided to re-rate. pours completely black with a large creamy whipped dark brown head. aroma of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, sugared coffee, espresso, mocha. full bodied and creamy. flavors like the aroma with notes of orange and pine. this still rocks just as hard.

BOOM! This is a killer Imperial Stout. Pours deep black with a minimal tan head. Thick and creamy with hints of burnt cocoa and espresso. 9.5% abv is hidden with ease. A perfectly balanced Imperial Stout!
