Aroma with notes of coffee, licorice, and something I can’t quite place but think is coriander.
Very full, dark flavour with everything from the aroma in rich amounts as well as an interesting complexity of other flavours (I suspect it’s one of those beers in wich everybodycan find different flavours).
Lasting bitter, hoppy aftertaste, that I liked, but realise might scare some people off (it’s rather agressive after all).
One of the best stouts I’ve had. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA

Pours an absolutely pitch black with no hints of light creeping through the edges. It’s topped by a one inch dark brown head that slowly fades to a thick cap and leaves behind an impressive webbing of lace.
Smell; some bitter hops are first to float out of the glass, followed very closely by roasted malts, dark chocolate and rich espresso. I also get some hints of dark fruits and molasses.
Taste; the piney hops, roasted malts and coffee really play well together. Dark chocolate and fruits flow through in the middle, and a nice sweetness counters a strong alcohol presence in the finish. Muhfeel is full bodied and silky smooth, but with the high abv the drinability takes a bit of a hit. kfarrnd (112), Oldsmar, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 29, 2005 22 oz. bottle. Pours out like motor oil - thick, brownish-black, viscous - with a medium tan head that clings nicely to the glass. The aroma wafted up with a strong roasted malt and chocolate tone with some coffee and caramel notes. The flavor is just massive roasted malt in the beginning with some milk chocolate sweetness, coffee and smoke undertones and then finishes with a very interesting hoppy flavor. I had a hard time beliving this came out of a bottle because it was so smooth and rich as if it came out on a nitrogen tap. It’s an extremely complex beer, and the awesome flavor hides it’s high alcohol content very well. Just about as good a beer that I have had thus far. Taverner (891), San Ramon, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Pours dark blackish brown with a thick brown head. Aroma consists of the roasted malts, and sweetness. On first taste, the hops and roast mix to give you a great experience on the palate. Bitter and sweet, much like a fine Dark Chocolate bar. You can taste notes of coffee, licorice, chocolate and caramel. You can’t taste the 9.5% at all - it tastes like liquid chocolate. iowaherkeye (1890), Los Angeles, California, USA

The aroma reminds me of Gonzo Imperial Porter, though maybe a little thicker. The strongest aromas are chocolate, pine, and coffee. Dig deeper and I get some earthy hops, anise, molasses. Flavors are much the same with chocolate in the finish, and the piney hops coming in full bore right before that. Roasted malts thoughout. Full-bodied and silky, with soft carbonation. Very very good beer. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Pours a nice black. Coffee/chocolate and little tobacco aroma. Flavor is awesome, rich and smooth, like roasted espresso loaded with dark bitter chocolate and kinda sweet. The alcohol is well hidden among the massive flavors. festyzizzle (30), Brooklyn, New York, USA

Great dark color and tan frothy head. The aroma was of coffee and dark chocolate. This beer had flavors of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. The flavor was constantly changing with each sip. A very good beer that needs to be tried.
