agillespie81 (90), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 19, 2008 Dark black......opaque. Thick, creamy head. Malty aroma, with a hint of sweetness. Strong roasted malt flavors up front......pretty smooth mouthfeel, with only a faint crispness. Complex hop notes mixed with a bold malt flavor in the back......long, somewhat dry finish.
bigtaster (97), Grand Rapids, USA Jul 15, 2008 Pours black with small light brown head, hues of burgundy. Excellent aroma of roasted malts bringing out a woody fruit aroma with hints of dark chocolate and some spice. Initially a smooth dark sweetness, followed by the warming of the palate and liquid. Flavor transitions to a tingling dry bitter/burnt chocolate that lingers long after the initial mouthful. Dark dirty and brilliant brew! nbutler11 (29), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 14, 2008 This a very enjoyable beer from start to finish because its agressive chocolate and malt flavors remain consistent from aroma to palate -- a quality that most beers fail to achieve. Borresteijn (55), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jul 13, 2008 Bottle @ home. Pitch black with a beige head. Great aroma of chocolate, roasted malts/coffee, some hops, and more chocolate. Taste is very rich, with creamy chocolate, burnt coffee and a hoppy finish. Despite the high ABV just little alcohol is noticed. Mouthfeel is oily and syrupy. Very, very good. BeerGestapo (246), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2008 (USA) I agree with fellow knight (moses) about this one !! Pours a dark brown almost black color with a med tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, coffee, and malts. There is some bitterness but on the mild side. I recommend this imperal stout, go get some. MuttyD (38), Cambridge, USA Jul 11, 2008 Black pour with foamy tan head. Burnt/roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, bitter. Great imperial stout.
