Commercial Description:
Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) will celebrate its 15th anniversary on September 6, 2003. In recognition of this anniversary, GLBC will release a specialty brew called Anniversary Ale that will be available throughout September in a new 4-pack package at local grocers and on tap at taverns, including GLBC's brewpub. Anniversary Ale is a Belgian Trippel ale that is pale golden in color with mild fruity and spicy characteristics and a slightly sweet flavor that lends itself to a strong, crisp finish. The specialty craft brew is the strongest beer to be bottled and packaged by GLBC with an alcohol by volume of 9.5%.

Butterscotch in appearance with orange highlights. Nice tight, snow white, head. Aroma is quite spicy with hints of banana, coriander, and clove. Very litter discernable hops for malt. The overwhelming tastes are of alcohol, spice, and that sourishness of the style. Great mouth feel, very round and full-bodied. Warming from the alcohol. Another good beer from Great Lakes and one that is true to the Abbey Trippel style.

This one pours golden and cloudy in appearance with a nice fomay ring around the rim. Has a great spicy aroma with a nice fruity mouthfeel, that has lots of ginger and corriander. Perfectly balanced with a great spicy mouthfeel. A pleasure to drink and highly reccomened.

Slightly sweet aroma and body. Body is medium with a great balance for the alcohol. Finishes to the dry side. Quite enjoyable.

Thanks to thedm and hotstuff for sharing this bottle with me. Decent white head of small bubbles on the yellowish body. Mainly yeasts in the aroma, but a hint of fruits that was described as mango or passion fruit. Some what of a spicy and sweet taste that mingled with the fruits and yeasts in the aroma to form a most excellent experience in my mouth. A high quality beer all the way.

Cloudy yellow body, spicy aroma of coriander. The flavor is very strong and robust. Strong alcohol prescence, and spicy, complex finish. Oranges abound. Quite good.

Bottle and best by date of 11/04. This beer formed a small sized white head that was creamy and smooth with fine-medium sized bubbles that fully diminished. The body was mostly transparent with fast rising carbonation and a yellow hue. The nose was sweet, spicy, citrus and some banana esters. The flavor was sweet, fruity and crisp. The mouthfeel was smooth and the lacing was sparse. An excellent Tripel and one that I highly recommend.

This is a triple with an interesting twist - the appearance is pretty standard (cloudy orange/gold w/ slight lacing) - the aroma has a musty quality, with orange peel, but what's odd about it is the slightly smokey scent - this manifests in the flavor as well, mixing surprisingly well with the yeast, bananas and citrus - a touch of birthday cake? (well, it is an anniversary ale) - not bad at all.

Cloudy orange/gold beer with frothy white head. Definitely looks like a Belgian beer. Smells of coriander, cinnamon, vanilla, bubble gum/banana. Great bouquet. The original taste is quite sour and very thick, like syrup. Nice tanginess. Quite a strong flavor. Can't drink too much of this beer but it is enjoyable.
