Commercial Description:
Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) will celebrate its 15th anniversary on September 6, 2003. In recognition of this anniversary, GLBC will release a specialty brew called Anniversary Ale that will be available throughout September in a new 4-pack package at local grocers and on tap at taverns, including GLBC's brewpub. Anniversary Ale is a Belgian Trippel ale that is pale golden in color with mild fruity and spicy characteristics and a slightly sweet flavor that lends itself to a strong, crisp finish. The specialty craft brew is the strongest beer to be bottled and packaged by GLBC with an alcohol by volume of 9.5%.

Slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is lots of apple, pear, and other fruits. Very sweet and smooth flavor. The palate is outstanding.

Poured a clear golden color with a large bubbly white head. Fruity aroma of lemon, and I thought I smelled an olive scent somewhere here as well? Smooth taste of tropical fruits, with a lively mouthfeel.

Hazy golden body with small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, apple, mango, yeasty. Taste is sweet, fruity, alcohol, finishing with a medium alcohol burn. Medium-full body. Interesting beer, but something seems awry.

Hazy golden appearance. Tastes a bit like a strong wheat beer. The taste is very full and the alcohol is noticeable. Spice is evident as well. The finish is crisp and sweet.

A solid tripel in my opinion. However, most well suited for the holiday season, as this is robustly spiced. A crystal, golden appearance with a sweet and spicey aroma. Malty, sweet, and spicey, yet mostly crisp. Well balanced, but somehow on the brink...

A lightly hazy golden body with little head. The aroma is both slightly sweet and yeasty. Nice light fruit notes and esters, plentiful spicing as well. Citrus, peach, cloves, perfume, pizza dough, banana, and candy sugar. A moderatly full mouthfeel. The flavor really is very nice. Fruity sweetness and hop bitterness softened by spicy yeast. This really was a well crafted beer. I'm very glad I was able to find this one.

I'd just tasted a New Belgium Trippel and thought it decent until I poured a glass of GL. The complexity and depth of flavor and aroma knocked me over. This is one of the best tripels outside of Belgium!
