Taste was somewhat sweet and a tad sour but very pleasant. Wheaty. This was an unusual beer. Aroma and taste seemed to differ as it warmed. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 22, 2004 Not all that bad, just isnt as good as good as some of the other stuff that I have had of this style. Cloudy orange with a big white head. The nose is wheat, yeast and orange. Butter present in and out. But that is about it, One thing for sure, it does warm up quite well and is pretty good really . | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 17, 2004 Poured an average sized white colored head that diminished to a thin layer after a few minutes; some lacing. Beautiful clear golden color. Aroma was very "Belgian": spicy with fruity acidity; a whiff of alcohol; a leathery mustiness. Flavor started and finished sweet balanced by a distinct hop bitterness. Spicy fruitiness emerged soon after the start layered with a subtle leatheriness and accompanied by a good hit of alcohol warmth that endured into the aftertaste. Pleasant citrusy and grassy flavors appeared near the finish and lingered long into the aftertaste. I enjoyed this very much. It had the hallmarks that I like in a trippel. At 9.5% ABV this is a beer to savor at a gentle pace. Though the label recommends that it’s best served at 45F I feel it’s a much more pleasant and flavorful experience when quaffed at 55F. Very nice. Thanks Drew! hopdog (5590), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 30, 2004 Poured a hazy dark orange with a small off-white head. Smoky, citrus (orangy), spicy, and musty smell. Slightly sweet with a bitter finish. Tastes of orange, smoke, and spices. Alcohol well hidden with a slight alcohol aftertaste. I enjoyed this beer and glad I picked it up during my last trip to Michigan. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2004 Pours a dark orange or amber with a thin, dissipating head. The sediment does not settle! The color would be clear if it were not for the millions of little yeast shards wandering around in my glass. Aroma of yeast and apricot. Is it possible to smell tart? Tastes a little citrusy and has a visble malt backbone. Definite yeast presence, but not so overwhelming it becomes gross. I would have thought with all that yeast floating around it would feel chunky, but that was not the case. It does feel thick, however, like it’s coating my epiglottis and tonsils. I think it’s a great tripel, worthy of hunting down. Sammy (4012), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2004 Very gold, little head and obviously noticable suspended yeast. The aroma is largely yeasty. It has a very astringent taste and is sweet with some hints of spice. Wrath (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
