It’s all there and has a very nice balance. I’ve a bottle from 2008 as well and I think this will be even better less aged. jerohen (1615), Bussum, Netherlands

I just didn’t think that it stacked up to the normal Blackout. The bourbon flavors didn’t blend great, with just the two different profiles kind of competing for space. The bourbon won. polomagnifico (535), Saginaw, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 26, 2009 Bottle thanks to MrChopin!! I have been looking for this brew for years and am very excited to finally get to try this. Aroma has notes of dark dried fruits, bourbon, oak, licorice, alcohol, sweet roasted malts, and resin hops. Pours a very dark brown hue that sits black in the glass with a small light tan head that mostly diminished and left little lace. Flavor is sweet roasty and finishes quite bitter. Palate is Full-medium bodied and oily soft with an alcohol bite. The bourbon is quite noticable and is a good base for all of the other flavors like licorice, vanilla and oak. Very well done considering there are no additives. The alcohol and hops are quite biting and bitter though so this beer would probably age well. I’d love to try this beer again after a year in the cellar. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

A ton of yellow lace in the swirl, and lots of flavor erupt from the aroma of this beer. The nose has vanilla, toffee, coconut, dark chocolate, alcohol, and all of the great qualities imparted from wood. Flavor is bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, chocolate, buttery goodness, and sweet licorice. Awesome in a bottle.
