Bottle, courtesy tpd975. Reddish black pour, with creamy white head and lacing. Nose is caramel, bourbon, coconut, peanut butter, some heat, soft cookies, brown sugar. Nice. Flavor has lots of bourbon, chocolate, and a vanilla oakiness throughout. Woodsy, with a slight roast finish. Very good. Very smooth, full-bodied and quite delicious. Would love to try a lot more of this.

Tap at Barcade. Pitch black beer with a creamy dark brown head. Aroma is just incredible. Rich sweet vanilla, light molasses, caramel and a touch of chocolate syrup. Slick rich texture that feels almost oaty in its viscosity. Very, very sweet with a soft oaky flavour in the middle of the palate adding some nice complexity to the brew. Vanilla and sweet cocoa flavour with a light spiciness toward the finish. As it warms a soft vineous oak quality comes out along with the toasty charred flavour. Some light rumminess on the finish as well. Really complex but very well integrated as well. Tasty stuff.

2008 bottle thanks to miketd. Black with a tan head. Nice dry oak, roasty chocolate aromas. Medium body. Good blackened malt base brew with nice wood barrel and chocolate/vanilla notes. Has a warming booziness to finish. Good stuff

2007 bottle consumed on 1/30/09. This beer pours a nice dark color with a thin tan head. The initial smell is sweet with hints of bourbon, vanilla, molasses, and toasted nuts. Age has been kind to this beer and it has mellowed out quit well. I must say that this one is very well balanced and smooth drinking for a beer of it’s caliber, maybe a little thinner than what I was expecting.

Thanks to Jsquire for sharing. 22 oz bottle. Black pour with a modest dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavors are full of vanilla bean, chocolate and a mild creamy latte; followed by a hint of bourbon. Warmed very nicely and flavors developed as it warmed in the hand. The finish beckons for another "Blackout".

22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with Cliff. Pours black with a thin-moderate brown head that lasted through the first third of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, malt, oak and bourbon. As good as the aroma is, the flavor is even a bit better. Chocolate, malt, prunes, and bourbon are all present. Oak, vanilla and coffee flavors emerge in the aftertaste and linger for several seconds after the swallow. Fairly smooth at the finish with some moderate warming from the alcohol. Full bodied. Excellent stuff!
