Thanks, man! Pours a beautiful black with a striking aroma of American whiskey, sweet bourbon, and a touch of mid-shelf scotch. Sips like a sweetened bourbon, with touches of chocolate syrup. Full and coating on the tongue. Fantastic. Definite repeat. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Courtesy MrBunn, Rating 100...fantastic. First beer of a 4 day trip to the White river in Arkansas...Even better. Pours black with the aroma of pears peat dish soap ash and a mild note of bog muck. Its been decided that this bottle isnt what it should be, but Im rating it nonetheless. Strong notes ofpears peat and some barrel flavor with ash and a bit of cough syrup. Burnt malt as well. Not bad but I expected better. Good beer as it is. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 14, 2009 This poured black in color with barely any head at all and what it does have completely fades away. The nose really shows off the bourbon followed by coconut, milk chocolate and some roasted malt. In the mouth it was meidum-bodied with lots of carbonation. The flaovors followed the nose with the palate coming off rather dry from the midpalate through finish. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2008 From Notes. Sampled this on tap the Saturday after its release at the brewery. Served in a snifter. This black beast has a perfect 1 cm cream head holding on top. Aroma is rich and complex, fresh sweet cream, espresso, chocolate, oak, vanilla, roasted malt, its all there. This just smells plain wonderful, even through a stuffy nose. The mouthfeel is very smooth, very smooth. Still some crispness from the alcohol, but generally robust, mellowed and wonderful. Flavor is refined and chocolatey, it pops with chewy truffles, light espresso notes, and fluffy marshmallow taste. Once the glass is low a rough swirl brings out some cognac spiciness from the wood.
