| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Pours jet black with a thin light brown head that lasts throughout and leaves moderate lacing. The aroma is of sweet malt with a roasted character, hints of coffee and a brandy-like kick. The flavor is fantastic with an initial taste of roasted smokey malt, prunes, and brandy. This stout closes with a slightly bitter chocolaty, coffee finish. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation. Extremely smooth and warming. This is a great Imperial Stout ! gwpom (253), Akron, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Great Lakes is putting out some kickass beer, with the Fitz porter being one of my favorites (plus it’s available in our region and reasonably priced), and I was happy to see a stout hit the shelves. Am not disappointed, black and oily, smokey, everything a good stout should be without being overbearing. Smooth, very drinkable, try this beer. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA

Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and ash. Taste is the same as aroma with some sweet caramel malt. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA

Fresh crushed grains, chocolate malt, coffee and cocoa powder aroma. Taste is thick and chocolaty, coffee bitterness, lots of thick dark malt, and hints of dark fruit. Mmmm, this is nice and chewy, with just a little bit of heat from the alcohol. I like this a lot. AmEricanbrew (1929), orange, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Clear dark brown with a frothy head. Aroma is dry blackened malts with dark cocoa. Smooth light/medium body. Nice flavors of black malts, cocoa, with some coffee bitterness to finish. Like their Fitz porter a bit better than this. GAManiac (1189), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Pours pitch black with a thin, dense tan head which remains a wisp of foam throughout leaving good lacing. Huge sweet, roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate and coffee playing major roles. There is also some dark fruit and the balance makes the aroma top notch. Like the aroma, the taste is dominated by the roasted malts but without as much coffee as the aroma. There is also a much heavier sweetness in the taste which gives way to a slight hop bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and creamy with a good carbonation. The finish is nice and sticky, coating the mouth. Drinkability is fairly good and this is a very good, though not great, stout in my book. Recommended. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA

Toasty brown vanilla body with a grainy, earthy hops body. Sticky and the real deal. Very clean and funkedified. Yumsers!
