Oct 27, 2007 Bottle via RagallachMC. Very pleasant brew all around. After already having the BA version, I was curious to see what the original had to offer. Blackout screams balance...from aroma (mostly roasted malt, dark chocolate) to flavor (moderately sweet, touch of caramel and vanilla) to mouthfeel (soft and coating) - just very well rounded, nicely crafted. Medium bodied and enjoyable.

Oct 17, 2007 Pour: deep black, but a little thin. Head: creamy, medium beige. Aroma: alcohol, some spice, molasses, a little acidic. Flvaor: molasses, alcohol, roast. Palate: smooth. Finish: warm and roasty.

Oct 10, 2007 Trade with drmatt. Pours a dark black, transparency in the pour. A little thin for what I like in the style. The head is small, a thin light brown. Nice aroma, sweet, fruit, alcohol, cherries, molasses, dark rum, coffee. The flavor features a sweet roast, sweet rum, slight alcohol, coffee. The palate is very smooth and easy to drink. Not an amazing impy, but very very nice with its own unique twist.

Oct 2, 2007 Updated: May 26, 2008Poured almost black with a nearly two-finger brown head. The aroma is chocolate, thin coffee and alcohol initially. As it opens up more chocolate comes out along with some smoke, roasted coffee beans, slight floral hops. The flavor was a nice blend of chocolate, roasty coffee, campfire, and some floral hoppiness. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with a nice warming from the alcohol.

Sep 30, 2007 Thanks to Secret Santa crizay for this one, opened at 9 PM in honor of MJ. Poured pitch black with a decent head. Aroma was of chocolate and quite a bit of dark fruit, slight alchohol, nice. Flavor matched, with chocolate, a bit of roast, some undefined dark fruits. Quit enjoyable.

Sep 29, 2007 Bottle: Good imp. stout. Dark pour with a good head. Hoppy and malt aroma (you can feel the aroma). Very drinkable.

Sep 26, 2007 Nice beer. Color is pitch black. Some roasted malt and alcohol on aroma. Taste is smooth malts and some hops. Very easy to drink and great flavor.

Sep 17, 2007 pours black with a solid one finger brown head. aroma is roasted malt and hops with bitter dark chocolate and coffee. has a medium to full body with good lacing and good carbonation for a stout. flavor is the same as aroma but stronger with a little of the 9% abv. descent on the nose but potent in the flavor and on the palate. has a little bite from the carbonation and the coffee lingers a while on the tongue. a pretty good impy stout.
