lasting thin brown head with a bit of lace, sweet ripe fruit aroma with the roasted taking a back seat, smooth sweet body, flavor is all ripe fruit, light bitterness in the finish, the special B of imperial stouts, this not like an imperial stout at all, too much ripe fruit character rather than the roasted malts, I love it

more roasted and hop flavor, swinging back to an imperial stout, need to do more samples at various age points to see where the fruit appears and how it progresses

Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, and a pungent earthy spice that I can’t quite place. Chocolate covered fruit taste with a slight bitterness. theisti (1693), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 21, 2007 12 oz bottle from MrBendo. Brewed 2007. Nearly all black pour with a bit of reddish tone, with a nice 1/2 inch khaki head that fades pretty quickly. Aroma is roasted coffee and some sharp licorice hoppiness. Taste is initially espresso roast coffee, middle is nutty maltiness, the finish is more coffee and hop bitter finish. The alcohol is almost completely masked in this one. A very nice beer, as it warms, the taste becomes more balanced and very smootg. Thanks Todd. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA

Appears a pitch black with a small tan head that slowly fades into a mild cap and collar. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of espresso, caramel, cream, dark chocolate, confectioners sugar, cocoa, roasted grains, and mild tobacco.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas of goodness with creamy vanilla coming through.
Mouthfeel is thick, rich, heavy, sweet, syrupy, roasty, molasses filled, boozy, with a touch of coconut milk. Delicious stuff. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2007 Bottled Oct ’06. Black with minimal head, even after a vigorous pour. Huge chocolate up front, with plenty of grainy-charred malt. Flavor much the same, huge chocolate, some residuel toffee/mollasses like sweetness. Bitter burnt grain and just enough hop presence to help balance the finish. Oily-smooth body and palate. At 9% I get no alcohol whatsoever. Well done. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA

Opaque black appearance with large dark tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocollate, sweet roasted malt, some smoke. Flavor is big sweet malt with coffee second, followed by chocolate, some alc comes through but very subdued, light fruit and bittering hops aswell. Big creamy and full body. An amazing brew, now all I need is a whole bottle of BAed brew, not just a sample.
