Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.

12 oz bottle. Black in color with medium brown head and very nice lacing. Faint chocolaty and roasty aroma. Amazing mix of chocolate, coffee, smoky and sweet cream flavors. Really well balanced and nothing too overwhelming.

Thanks Explosivebeer! Fierce mocha aroma and some vanilla. Oily yet light bodied and soft. Great all around.

12 oz bottle from the Binny’s Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). Figured I’ve had the BA, may has well pop the base. Pours a pitch black pour, fairly thick, with moderate light brown head that laces some but dissipates to a film. Aromas are evident from the crack, spouting chocolate and vanilla like cream, caramel, some lighter coffee, and good roasted malt. Initial is full bodied, taking on some nice bitterness and roast up front and on the backend. Body lets in some of the creaminess and sweetness from the chocolate and caramel, with light vanilla. Chocolate also displays bitterness towards the finish. I’d have to say the bitterness towards the finish is stronger than normal, providing good balance with the sweetness in the body, almost a little too strong. Alcohol hides well among the elements. This is a very good Impy. Cheers!

Pours deep black with foamy caramel head. Expresso, cocoa and roast nut flavours. Full body, with a slight bittering finish.

Bottle dark as all, small creamy head aroma not much, thus the low scores on this. It makes it up for a great taste sweet taste of licorice with a wonderful blend of chocolate malt, finish is great, the high ABV is completely hidden. This is the best of Great lakes Brewery in my opinion.

Bottle. A dark brown/black color pour with a medium creamy brown head, that lasted a while, lots of lacing, Aroma of coffee, chocolate, Some licorice, light smoke, and maybe brown sugar. Big rich full flavor of charred malt, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and a touch of bitter hops at the finish. Creamy mouthfeel, without being sticky, the medium carbonation keeps it lively. Very drinkable. A top notch Stout in every respect, very good Thank you GLB

2008 Bottle - Thanks DrHomolka! - Pours almost black with a small tan head...aroma is dry cocoa, vanilla malt, dark pit fruit and light roast...flavour follows, with some dominant fruit and sweet chocolate, roasty goodness...finish is terrific...this beer is just absurd...loved it!!!
