Nothing terrible but wouldn’t recommend (except that it came as part of the LCBO mixed six pack). VeloVampire (490), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Updated: Dec 5, 2007341 ml bottle from the Ontario Craft Brewers Discovery Pack - pours a dark amber with a small white head. Fairly sweet, malty aroma, but a good amount of grain in there too. A lightly toasty quality as well. More toastiness in the mouth, with slightly less-than-average carbonation. Faint, dry finish, with some lingering alcohol. Ok, but where this brewery really shines is with their seasonal ales. Stick to those (and steer clear of the benign lagers) and you’re fine.... | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 28, 2007 341ml Bottle: Provided fresh from the brewer at the Mobile Monday event in Toronto. I see the OCB decided this was one of Ontario’s finest, deserving placement in the new Discovery Pack. Really. The aroma is caramel sweet and the flavour is bland, delivering hints of that sweetness and some form of sourness, but little else. Now that these guys are proving they can brew with their seasonals perhaps it’s time to go back and reformulate these a bit? cyrenaica (440), Milton, Ontario, Canada

I tried this beer on February 14, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto. The beer poured a beautiful translucent dark red colour with a very thin white head. The aroma was very weak with a slight malt smell. The mouthfeel was light, dry, with low carbonation. The flavour was slightly malty, and slightly sour. Not an enjoyable beer, and very similar to Alexander Keith’s Red. wilderthanyou (423), Guelph, Ontario, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 29, 2008 Pours a deep amber red with no head. Very light sweet malty aroma. Flavour is incredibly docile, mostly just really light malty sweetness, caramel, and carbonation. Pretty boring. ChrisThomson (405), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Bottle from LCBO. Nothing at all to get excited about here, and Great Lakes has many far superior beers. Pours amber with small white head. Mild malty with some caramel. A bit of a nasty aftertaste. Not seeing the premium quality in the taste. gilvanblight (397), Windsor, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Burnt Sienna colour with a very light soapy head. Smokey warm and slighly nutty scent. Watery at first but then a nice malty rise. Thick flavourful finish. Rahter nice. I could see drinking this all night. The more I have the more I like it. Wish this was avaliable locally all the time. JohnBarleycorn (394), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. More brown than red, with a light-brown body and dark brown around the edges. Aroma is pretty weak overall, with vague cherry and malt shyly making their presence known. Weak palate tips towards the offensive end of the scale. Macro-style watered-down flavour profile a real letdown, with inoffensive malt, slight fruit and very little length. Built like a buck-a-beer, but with a premium craft-brewed price tag.
