Cask @ Volo. Mild aroma of hops, decent malt and some spice, hazy orange, small custard head. Tastes spicy, with a fruity malt bite. Medium bodied, quite bitter, quite nice. A very unique offering.

Cask at Volo. Pours a hazy orange-copper with no head. Slightly mild, but pleasant aroma with plenty of hops, some fruit, grain and caramel malt in the back. Flavour has the hops mainly in the finish, I’d like to see more in the initial flavour. It’s a bit spicy and has a long bitter finish -- it’s a little overly simple. Body’s a tad watery, even for cask. Pretty good, with a little tweaking this could be very good.

cask at Volo
Appearance: mid haze on amber , light top presented.
Nose: organic feel ,grainy with hop notes.
Flavor/Palate : mid bodied with thinner malt and medicinal hop character. Not as drinkable as it could be . Hint of alcohol at back wall.

Cask . At Volo. Very cloudy orange with an average diminishing off-white head (almost to 4/5 - but not quite). Grassy, earthy bitter aroma, yeasty and fairly grainy - a bit fruity too. The taste is WAAyy more bitter than the aroma - grapefruit pith/resin bitterness, acidic, the malt takes a definite backseat, and oddly I get raspberry seeds in there as well - not too much alcohol presence, mostly just very bitter. Very, very thick and chewy mouthfeel, acidic and dry, the bitterness clings to your tongue a long time indeed. I’d like to see a little more aroma hopping, but hell, this is a fine brew for sure!

Cask, yeasty mealy aroma, pale cloudy ruddy light brown, very bitter almost astringent but pleasant enough still, good feel, grassy hops finish, No smoky or caramelized steinbier character.

[2480-20090910] Cask. Chick pea-like bread yeast aroma has hints of fruit. Hazy, orange brown body with a quick bubbly off-white head. Mild orange skins and tons of fruity malt flavour. Medium body is thick. A little chewy, like orange juice without the pulp.

2009-09-10. Dark amber body with a tiny foamy white head. Flavour is surprisingly bitter, pleasantly so, interesting malt profile. Light leafy hops in the finish, ephemeral citrus and resin. Ɩ+) Mild aroma is a bit overpowered by the smell of mussels left in the room from earlier, light hops, fruit, muted grass, light floral. Ɩ+) Average plus palate. Very interesting. Not sure what the recipe was going for other than the use of hot rocks but the overall impression is unusual. Pleasant but a puzzler. Cask at the brewery
