Aroma is predominantly malty with some nice resinous pine notes. Taste is surprisingly hoppy - well, if you’re assuming it’s an APA instead of an IPA...which I did. Very enjoyable mouthfeel from the medium body and carbonation. It’s a good sessioner for the bolder beer fan and perhaps a good gateway beer into the realm of higher degree-o’-difficulty IPAs. marcus (1893), Sacramento, California, USA

Aroma was piney hops and grass with a hint of citrus. The taste was what I would expect from an IPA. It was very balanced with a crisp bitter finish. This is a good beer which surprised me from Great Lakes. Most of what I have tried from them has been a disappointment. Thanks ewestern for the suggestion. travita (1941), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2008 Orange to amber in color with a light white head. Malt hop balance in the araoma with some piney notes but not much else. Taste is low bitterness with a light malt background. Decent. shalloWMeans (160), Independence, Kentucky, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Luxuriant copper orange to amber color with a solid, medium white head. This is a very well crafted American Pale Ale, with pleasantly intense citrus and floral hop aromas and a toasty, solid malt backbone. The taste is very straightforward, with big, bright, juicy, fresh hops bringing orange peel and grapefruit bitterness to a smooth, lively, medium bodied palate. This is a very appetizing libation, perfect before, during, or even after a meal (though I prefer before.) Awesome drinkability. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Scent is toasty and wheaty, like running through fields of Cheerios as a youngster, with a hint of celery salt. The flavour is mealy with musty, earthy flavours (fallen leaves), honey and good bitterness. Immensely drinkable and the lingering aftertaste keeps it at the back of the mind and throat. Somewhat soft and frothy carbonation. Great Lakes doesn’t tend to disappoint. cmillward (434), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden with a small light cream head. On the nose, toasty, biscuit, citrus hops. In flavor the toast and biscuit produce a distinct graham cracker flavor. More citrus hop flavor and a nice bitter end. A touch of spice. Crisp finish, medium carb. Very good.
