Aroma of doughy malt and pine hops. Flavor had a weird malt note upfront with a pine hop finish. They talk about citrus hops on the label, but all I was getting was pine.Juts tastes a bit out of balance. Medium body on the palate with light fine carbonation. Overall: good and drinkable. Not the best IPA out there, but not bad by any means. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Pours a dark amber in color with a nice, really big rocky head that stays around for awhile. Smell is nice. Some nice, citrusy, juicy hops. Taste is even better. Plenty of citrusy hops in the flavor. Crisp and bittering , but not over the top. Decent amount of carbonation as well. Very smooth IPA. Another fine beer from GL. FlssmrBrewAlum (1177), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Poured on tap at The Galway Tribes (Frankfort, IL) into an imperial pint. Poured a light amber hue, with only a touch of haze, with a prominent bubbly white head. Aromas were lacking, which was dissappointing. I wouldn’t have expected it to be an IPA from aroma and more an APA. Aromas were light, composed of citrusy hops and light caramel maltiness. Initial taste was light too, but refreshing and pleasant. Citrus and piney hops bite at the tounge, but not as sharply as most other IPAs. Caramel malts are well balanced if not a little strong in the brew (or maybe, more prominent is a better description). Finishes well. A good beer and a change of pace from more assertive IPAs. GMCC2181 (880), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2008 Bottle from StFun, thanks Josh! I didn’t know what to expect from this beer since I didnt look up any information on it or have had any thing from Great Lakes Brewing Co. but I was surprised in a good way. Copper in color, good head. Smells like citrus hops. Taste is a well balanced, fresh, clean IPA. Classic hop bitter taste. Medium carbonation. Overall a solid IPA that I would buy if it was in my area. Thanks Josh for a good brew! pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Bottle. Poured a copper color with a good fluffy white head.
Nice aroma of hops with the malt aroma hanging in there with it. Well balanced flkavor of hops with the malty, biscuity flavor of the malt. Good mouthfeel make this a excellent and very drinkable pale ale. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2008 12 oz bottle shared at the Alesmith BA Release line tasting. Thought this was going to be an APA. Very hoppy for an APA, and still pretty decent for an IPA. Grass and grapefruit aromas and flavors. Pretty good. Beerman6686 (1292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Pours a light amber color with a small white head. Aroma is very citrusy hops. Taste is very bitter and citrusy, not too much pine like the description in my opinion. agillespie81 (204), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Copper color......fluffy head, though it fades a bit fast. Balanced aroma......floral, yet malty. Flavor of malt up front......slightly crisp mouthfeel. Bitterness slowly creeps into the back......finishes dry with a mild maltiness. Very balanced.
