Taste has a strong piney bitter taste and finishes with the toasted grains. Not balanced well enough for my tastes. Beerlando (2353), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 21, 2007 Clear, brassy-amber body. Small white head settles to a negligible film with a tiny edge. Sudsy, spotty lacing clings to the glass. The aroma reveals a creamy, light caramel base with toasted grains, mild floral hops, and hints of white fruits in the background. The flavor is very toasty, with ample, dried floral and grassy hops. I also picked up some buttery, slightly burnt caramel on the tongue. Medium palate with a disappointing, slightly astringent, bitter finish. Creamy texture. Nice brew that starts off strong but drops off a bit towards the end. ucusty (1920), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Well balanced IPA, the hops are not to excessive and it delivers a nice dry finish with a pleasant, lingering hop taste. Bottle from ruffian. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2007 9/12/2007: Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale pours out a bright coppery color with a nice lasting beige head. The toffee maltiness and moderate citrus/pine bitterness are well-balanced and make for a very tasty, very easy to drink, and highly sessionable pale ale. Some might deisre a bit more bitterness (it wouldn’t necessarily be un-welcomed in this beer), but I really think this beer is wonderfully balanced as it is and can appeal to both Pale Ale and IPA drinkers. This is a great beer and one that I will never grow tired of drinking!

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Updated: Sep 27, 2007Bottle. Poured deep orangish yellow with a thin white head that didn’t stick around for long. Sharp bitter flavor reveals the citrusy hops. Not bad, but nothing special. A decent APA. I find it similar to Great Lakes Commodore Perry, but not quite as strong in either the flavor or alcohol content. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 10, 2007 Clear rich orangy light gold with a thin dense offwhite head. Lightly sweet, slightly toasty to faintly chocolate in the otherwise pale malt. Floral hops, not overwhelming, balanced. A bit fizzy, but very drinkable, not watery, but not thick. Quenching. Crisp refreshing peppery hop profile with subdued, slightly fruity, slightly toasty malt. Dry citrusy to soapy hop finish. A bit acidic ? w/ perhaps too much toast, but nice enough to drink.
