Great medium-full body, rich mouthfeel. Good amount of hops. Not over the top, but enough that you aren’t disappointed (it is an IPA after all). Very drinkable, enjoyable beer. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2007 Updated: Sep 17, 2007(12 oz. bottle) pours orange gold with a strong grassy hop and muted pine aroma. initial taste is fruity hops followed by a solid bitter, caramel and hops. there is an element of citrus in there as well. the grassy aroma carries into the front end and the bitter makes for a clean finish. smooths substantially as is warms. a well balanced refreshing pale ale. Red amber colour with a mostly diminishing fizzy off-white head. Classic c-hop aroma - citrus peel, orange, tangerine, pine, plus some light caramel. Tasty and caramel malt backbone with a citrus peel, tangerine, light grapefruit, and woody bitter finish. Medium bodied, juicy but a bit prickly and sticky. Brings back the memories of its big brother Nosferatu in a sessionable quaffer. ig0r (6), USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2007 Strong citrusy aroma and flavor with a hint of caramel. Aroma of citrusy hops is quite dominant and quite enjoyable. Taste is quite hoppy with some real citrusy flavour is well backed by some generous caramel malt. Body is quite full with some great carbonation. Overall, I thought this was a well balance amp version of an APA. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2007 Rated 2/9/06: One of the better American Pale Ales that I have had. Being in North East Ohio, the beers from Great Lakes Brewing are always readily available and for that I am extremely thankful. Burning River is amber and copper in color, pours with ample head and leaves a nice trail of lacing as I empty my pint glass. The aroma is bursting with hop flavors comparable with most IPA’s. Pine and citrus notes are further detected. The flavor is everything a pale ale should be, well hopped with abundant malts. This beer is always an enjoyable experience. Well crafted to say the least.
