| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly amber-gold with an average size lasting fluffy off-white head. Mild aroma of fruit and hops along with some roasted malt and yeast. Flavour starts malty and finishes with a big spicy bitterness. The fiinish is a little harsh and there’s a slightly odd alcoholic aftertaste -- for a 6% beer you can taste the alcohol quite a bit. Medium bodied. It’s good enough but I wouldn’t get it very often, it’s just not my thing. puzzl (2620), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2006 Lightly hoppy, lemon and pea soup aroma. Pours with little head, dark orange. Taste is a bit over-bitter with a lack of actual hop flavor, more of the pea soup flavor and a nice amount of pepper, salty hops. konair1 (64), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2006 Beer at the Pier. A great beer both in flavor and aroma. Pours a nice golden/copper color. There are notes of citrus. And there is a nice hop finish. sanmiguel (118), Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2006 Bottled, pours a very nice head. Honestly, I generally have a low regard for American beer. Burning River is very good. It has a banana scent; very fruity flavor (hints of banana and citrus) and a malty aftertaste. Carbonation is OK. I like this beer! drainey (231), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2006 12 oz bottle. Golden orange body with small white head. Aroma of citrus with something that smelled a bit soapy. Flavor is nice and hoppy but also has that strange soapy flavor. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2006 Pours pale golden. One of four that I’m trying from a G.L. variety pack. Aroma is citrusy. Citrusy American hop bitterness. Nice balance. Has a clean, refreshing finish.
Decent APA, but falls well short of Alpha King. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2006 12oz bottle, best by May 30. Pours a clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine resiny hops, backed by some caramel malts. Taste follows pretty well, though only a hint of bitterness comes through in the middle, as this brew has a biscuity sweet finish. Well balanced for 65 IBU’s. Medium mouthfeel, lightly carbonated. Very good--would be pretty good starter beer for someone getting into APA’s. jimrockford (49), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2006 Friend sent six pack from brewery area.
Appearance: The beer pours a copper coloration. The head was a creamy off white coloration. There is thick lacing remaining behind on the glass.
Aroma The beer has a solid sweet malty breadyness. The hops provide a piney counter note.
FlavorThe beer has a very strong malty breadyness. The hops are nice and oily and provide a peppery piney taste.
Overall: The beer has a medium mouthfeel. The beer is nicely balanced between hops and maltyness. This is a dam fine drinking beer. It is not as good as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but is dam fine in its own right
