Dec 6, 2005 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev - bottles from me and blankboy. Poured clear ruby-amber with an average off-white foamy lasting head. Mild aroma of sweet slightly caramel roast malt and mld resiny hops - nice, balanced, but a bit vague, but spicy and evergreen in the background. Taste is blend of spices (pepper, cloves, vanilla) and light roast malt, some slightly sour grain, even some mild hops - very seasonal. Mouthfeel very peppery, slightly lively, long linger, quite bitter on the finish after spicy-malty start. Very nice winter ale.

Dec 5, 2005 Bottle: Clear medium amber with a medium beige head that lasts. Aroma is allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, light honey, light malts. Taste is allspice, cinnamon, and a hint of honey-covered apple, cloves, grains, light malt. Light-medium bodied, medium-lively carbonation. Finishes with a clove-like spice and sticky sweet malt notes.

Dec 4, 2005 Aroma is light, some of the holiday spice, such as allspice and cinimmon is evident mouthfeel is smooth, taste is a jumble of malt and spices where nothing stands out. Seems like Great Lakes played it safe here, and there is really nothing here for me to try more than one

Dec 2, 2005 12-oz. bottle thanks to OhioDad. Pours clean coppery red with tiny fast rising bubbles and a small off-white head that dissipates to a film with some lined lacing. Yeast (sour leather) and fruity floral hop aroma with medium malt (meal) notes and some spice (cinnamon) hints. Bitter hop lightly acidic flavor with a medium caramel malt body and a hoppy rind, floral aftertaste. Medium bodied and fizzy, dry palate.

Dec 2, 2005 Bottle. Brilliant clear copper with creamy white head, good lacing. Subtle cinnamon and honey aroma. Spice flavors of ginger and cinnamon dominate, but it’s not exactly spicy ... light and warming like a hot gingerbread cookie. Sweet, soft, and pleasant.

Nov 29, 2005 Chocolate, hops and cinnamon nose, light copper, big, rocky custard head, lot’s of carbonation, nice lace. Flavour has hops, cinnamon, allspice, malt and a hint of pumpkin. Medium bodied, complex, well balanced, alcohol is subtle. A fine offering!

Nov 27, 2005 Updated: Dec 5, 2005Beautiful red hue with quickly fading white head. Aroma of ginger, some other spices. Flavor is nice balance of cinnamon, ginger, and sweet honey. Gets me in the mood for Christmas. I could see how the cinnamon and ginger could turn one off from this brew, but I happen to love those flavors. They don’t appear in excessive amounts either. Alcohol flavor seems very well hidden. This beer is spot on for me.
