Pours a clear, medium yellow color; off-white head with excellent retention and lacing, coating the sides of the glass. Plenty of grapefruit / citrus hops in the aroma; slightly herbal. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: dense, chewy citrus hop presence: a bit resiny, with a nice hop bite at the back of the throat; pleasant light malt character underneath; some fruitiness and sugar near the finish. Dense, chewy IPA. krautdog (15), Gimmelstümph, Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2007 Just tried this out of the bottle. Poured a golden/straw color, I felt it was a bit pale for an IPA but the head was nice and the carbonation was adequate. It was easy on the palette and very tasty with a definite grapefruit taste, perhaps it’s finished with Amarillo hops? It didn’t have the big hop nose of most IPA’s I think this in perhaps more in the British style but it is a very good beer and I definitely recommend it to any IPA fans. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2007 Yellow/copper with a good sized white head. Somewhat musty aroma with some grassy hops, medium sweet. Rather bitter, lots of noble hops, just a bit of sweetness. Not a run of the mill c-hop IPA. Interesting. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2007 Shared by badgerben. This is a solid pale ale. Herbal hop aroma. Gold color, clear and lightly carbonated. Flavor is mild hops. On the mild side, I am surprised to see the abv is so high. LinusStick (1848), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2007 Aroma of hops and pine. Golden pour with no head. Looks kind of flat except for some small bubbling. Medium to thick mouthfeel. Strong hoppiness with a fizz is the best way to describe this beer. A little malt in the background but not much. Tastes like it came from the earth with the earthy and pine. I can see shooting at some food and up from the ground came this...blah...I am a dork. Bartzilla (443), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2007 Bottle poured a clear golden color with a nice white head. The aroma was mildly hoppy with some caramel. Taste was fairly bitter with a clean crisp hop finish. Not too much else going on in this one except being clean and easy to drink. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2007 nice and tasty little brew. The thing I like about Great Lakes is that they forgot the excess in favor of what tastes good. I’ll be the first to say that this is not an over the top IPA, but it qualifies as one of the most quaffable. Reminds me of Goose Island’s....
