Pours with a clear, bright copper body, mild carbonation and a thick, cream-colored cap. Some vegetal notes greet the nose first, but they wear down as the head dissipates. Next it becomes like a tomato sauce as hops add a spicy, herbal character. Finally I find the grapefruity aroma I was expecting with an added twist of lemon. The taste is much more reliable with a bittersweet rollercoaster of flavors merging the caramel sweetness of malts with the sharp bitterness of citrus rind. Sweet tea creeps in at the finish to add a pleasant touch of complexity. Smooth in the mouth with a light tingle and a dry ending. Very good... until I swirl the half empty glass and once more breathe in the vegetables, this time with a light dose of alcohol as back-up. Here we go again...

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2006 Pours an attractive, clear amber with a frothy head that has a yellowish cast. The hoppy aroma mixes with a little bit of pale crackery malt. The flavor is much less hoppy than expected, but this is still a tasty beer.
