This seems to me to be a great session ale. Pours a clear amber-red, with a thin head, leaving some faint lacing behind. The aroma is very sweet, but that is not reflected in the beer itself. Nothing in the taste really stands out to me, but overall it is a good solid beer.

12 oz bottle best by 03/20/07 from Trooper11. Amber orange with a beige head. Lightly toasted rye nose. Rye bread flavors, very light nut notes, followed by a mild, bready, herbal bitter finish. Nice!

On tap at Great Lakes Brewery. Deep red color, Small foamy head. Sweet, fruity aroma, pears and light fruit. Creamy bready thick malt taste. No carbonation present. Quick bitter bite at the end then a clean finish.

Beautiful shining clear and bold copper colored body. Nose is peat and overipe bananas. Taste is straight caramel malts with a light banana yogurt flavor. Body is moderately fizzy.

pretty brown. darker than an ipa but translucent. good half-inch head. smells of octoberfest-type malts. pretty strong. unexceptional body/texture. kinda a less malty bock/octoberfest. yeah, surprisingly lagerish. apparently, this bottle is really old. i suppose i’ll rerate it some day.

Very good irish ale, much better to my taste than a Killians, or Legacy red. Look forward to this one coming around again.

Not a bad irish ale, but not that great either. The pour was a reddish-brown color with an off-white head. The aroma was hoppy and somewhat floral. The taste is definitely bitter, with a bitter finish. I was hoping for more of a malt presence, but very little was detected."
