| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2006 bottle - Pours golden with a moderate head. The aroma is mild and has a little hops in it. The is lightly malty with a good, moderately strong hops presence. The finish is crisp and smooth with a touch of lingering hops. It goes down easy, but is flavorful and not too thin. Great Lakes has made a very good session brew. sandwichpants (117), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 15, 2006 As the description says, this is a sorta middle of the road, as far as hop to malt balance goes, lager. It’s quite well made, being crisp and clean without being boring, but it doesn’t knock my socks off for a lager, but that’s probably more just my taste (Prima Pils tends to impress me as a lager, but that’s just my taste). If you’re looking for a nice bottom fermented beer, and this is around, consider yourself lucky!. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2006 Thank to OhioDad for this one. Crystal clear, pale amber/gold with a creamy white head. Very appealing appearance. Nose of noble hops, light crackery malts, some minerally character as well. Very light and crisp body, light earthiness and a crisp minerally flavour. Noble hop flavour and a great moderately bitter finish. As it warms, the malts come out more showing a toasty sweetness but it’s still very well balanced. Too bad this is my only bottle. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 9, 2006 Thanks to Secret Santa for this one. Pours hazy golden coppery (more on the gold side) with 1-finger clingy, off-white head. Aroma of bready malts, citrus, hops, some spicy hints, and even a little orange marmalade on toast. The flavor is bold, fairly dense and complex on the palate. It is initialy bready malty, with a solid citrus presence and finishing hops. Smooth and crisp, with more spiciness as it warms, and a steady bready malt, citrus, and hop component throughout. Very good. One of the bolder and denser, if not the boldest and densest, Helles’ I’ve yet quaffed. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2006 This is my favorite Great Lakes beer, outside of the Blackout Stout of course. The beer is easy to drink, and unassuming. The pour is a golden yellow color with a white head. There is plenty of carbonation in this one to be sure. The aroma is a letdown--just nothing there really. The taste is very simple and balanced. A nice mix of hops and malt. The finish is clean, which is nice considering that most G.L. beers seem to finish with a bitter taste. A very solid beer."
