Served commonly around Cleveland, it’s one that I enjoy often. This and the Christmas Ale are my two favorite Great Lakes brews. Highly recommended. larryg (8), chicago, Illinois, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 3, 2006 really like this golden lager. seems very german, like the bitburger i had in munich a few years back. great color and good foam. perfect balance of hops, malt & yeast. american beer at its finest. its not the best beer ive ever had but for its style its really good. went really well with the fish fry i had too. dbutler4699 (13), Elyria, Ohio, USA

I put this in a class with some other great beers - Sam Adams Boston Lager and Crooked River ESB. raindog (559), Evansville, Indiana, USA

Deep, golden color with a beautiful, white, active head.Thickness makes the heavy carbonation slow and almost unappearent. Great ale-like estery flavors.Huge sugar-sweet front followed with soft, smooth, earthy, malts. The leafy smack of hops in the finish is very appealing. It gets some german malt sweetness in the finish also as it warms. Traveled to the brewery in March, and it tasted even more delicate and delicious draft.Bottle showed more resemblence than I expected. Excellent beer anytime. If not perfect, very near. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA

Great big fluffy head over wonderful clear gold. Generous light malt with complex hop interplay, yielding to a sharper finish than other Dorts I’ve tried. Very like Dominion and Victory, but a bit sharper and a measure more tart. Brilliant. PsychProf is to thank for this beauty. drewcifer85710 (158), Youngstown, Ohio, USA

Also my first choice (lately) of session or default beer. Exceptionally well-balanced, great moderate hoppiness and light body. Huge flavor considering what it is. Exceptionally drinkable. THis is far from dismal fortunately as are most of Great Lakes beers ..
They seem to be having success across most of the board.
This one is really nice alone or with light German food i’d say .
I’m on the West coast of Canada at the moment and cannot find any Great Lakes for sale here, as they seem to keep most of the American micros out of the liquor stores. I intend on getting some when i’m back in States .
Party on !
