Good aroma that comes out whether served on tap or in bottle. (Aside: Great Lakes uses this to make a fantastic porter ice cream) FlssmrBrewAlum (1177), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2008 12 oz bottle served at Charlestons (New Lenox, IL). Pours a ruby over midnight hue with small tannish head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aromas are roasted malt, cocoa, and a faint touch of coffee. Initial is a nice toasted malt character, touches of bittersweet chocolate, and some subtle coffee grinds. Roasted malt and touches of chocolate dominate the body, a touch of creaminess lowers the bitterness and makes this upper medium bodied brew very welcoming, silky as it goes down. Very nice. dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Draft at Capones. Poured a deep dark brown with some red highlights on the edges. Sweet aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor was more tart with some coffee, bitter bakers chocolate, honey sweetness and some green vegtables in the background. Once again another very enjoyable beer that was slightly differenet from the norm. Good stuff. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England

Edmund Fitzgerald is a very deep brown beer with lovely chocolate, roast and coffee flavours with a surprisingly hoppy finish which is most enjoyable. A beer which makes me miss Cleveland. craftbeerdesign (765), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2008 12oz. bottle. Pours a clear brown/mahogany, with a light tan, foamy head, and creamy, stick to the glass, full lacing. The nose is of dark chocolate, smoke, and dark roast coffee. The aroma notes lessen in the taste along with some malty sweetness and nice hop balance. The body is medium, with a little fizziness in the carbonation. The finish has some light astringency. A very quaffable porter!
