| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2008 From a variety 12-pack. Very dark, but I could see my fingers through the other side of the glass. The head lasts. This is a nice dry porter, very roasty (smoky even), coffee-ish. Soft body, perhaps lighter than expected. Still one of my favorites in the porter/stout family. jbean (110), Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours very dark brown with thin, long lasting tan head. Aroma is roasty coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is roasted coffee, some bitter chocolate notes, and maybe some smokiness. Very well balanced, but perhaps a bit acidic. Mouthfeel is very nice, not as thin as a lot of porters. Very drinkable and pretty delicious. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Appearance: Pours a not quite opaque, dark brown body with a small, fizzy light khaki-colored head.
Smell: Aroma of cold coffee and unsweetened chocolate with a faint whiff of acrid smoke and pine.
Taste: Bittersweet chocolate flavor with some roasty coffee and a slight caramel sweetness. A teaspoon of cherry cordial comes and goes with a quickness. Hint of roasted nuts. Resinous pine hop presence provides a touch of balancing bitterness. Piney, mocha-ish finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A quality, well-balanced porter that’s full of flavor and easily drinkable. Marsiblursi (1649), Göteborg, Sweden

Undertones of dark berries, nuts and oven roasted root vegetables, wet stone, citrus and rhubarb. The flavour is roasted with tones of coffee and chocolate. Undertones of nut cream and a light citric hop sting. The mouthfeel is dry and light sourish from the roasted grain but otherwise very smooth, creamy and velvety. Light to medium bodied. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Pours very nice dark brownish/black with decent tan head. Aroma is mostly hearty roasted malts with a hint of chocolate and a similar spicy hop aroma utilized in their Holy Moses white ale. Flavor is excellent, full bodied, sweet roasted chocolates and a hint of the bitter hops at the finish. Excellent porter.
