Best before 10/02/07) Pours very dark brown to black with a brown head. The aroma is roasted and toasted with tones of chocolate, coffee and brown sugar. Undertones of dark berries, nuts and oven roasted root vegetables, wet stone, citrus and rhubarb. The flavour is roasted with tones of coffee and chocolate. Undertones of nut cream and a light citric hop sting. The mouthfeel is dry and light sourish from the roasted grain but otherwise very smooth, creamy and velvety. Light to medium bodied. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Pours very nice dark brownish/black with decent tan head. Aroma is mostly hearty roasted malts with a hint of chocolate and a similar spicy hop aroma utilized in their Holy Moses white ale. Flavor is excellent, full bodied, sweet roasted chocolates and a hint of the bitter hops at the finish. Excellent porter. Soonah (965), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Poured the expected dark brown with a super thin brown head that receded quickly and provided no lacing. The aroma was a very nice blend of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a thin bit of spicy hops cutting through. The flavor was roasted malt and coffee with chocolate softening the hard edge. Nice bit of smoke as well. The mouthfeel is average and the finish is succinctly bitter. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA

Average to small head, tan in color. Aroma and taste are dominated by coffee/burnt coffee and chocolate tones. Some hoppiness to the taste, but not too much. Quite a bit sweeter than most other porters. Petrucci914 (589), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is very much chocolate and coffee; rather sweet. Was surprised to see this being a porter. Tastes like a lot of other sweet or oatmeal stouts. Very good! Almost opaque black pour with a smallish tan head.
Smells very smoky and dark. As this warms up, the aroma becomes much more intense and dark. Very nice.
Nice dark chocolatey smoky taste that is a little thin as far as the mouthfell goes but still nice. As it warms, it does get considerably better. Still a little thinner than some of the true elite porters but as far as being one that I can get on a consistent level, this is the best one out there. I will definitely keep this around.
