Pours an opaque very dark brown to black. Average to small head, tan in color. Aroma and taste are dominated by coffee/burnt coffee and chocolate tones. Some hoppiness to the taste, but not too much. Quite a bit sweeter than most other porters.

Pours pretty black with a medium tan head and a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is very much chocolate and coffee; rather sweet. Was surprised to see this being a porter. Tastes like a lot of other sweet or oatmeal stouts. Very good!

This is a really good porter here. Very dark and smoky. Almost opaque black pour with a smallish tan head. Smells very smoky and dark. As this warms up, the aroma becomes much more intense and dark. Very nice. Nice dark chocolatey smoky taste that is a little thin as far as the mouthfell goes but still nice. As it warms, it does get considerably better. Still a little thinner than some of the true elite porters but as far as being one that I can get on a consistent level, this is the best one out there. I will definitely keep this around.

Black beer that lets just a little bit of light through, small tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate, caramel, toasted hazlenut. Tastes of all the above plus citrus hops that were buried in the aroma. The finish is dominated by espresso. Prasctically perfect porter.

12oz bottle shared with ealdent. Pours an opaque black with a medium-sized tan head. The aroma is roasty with lots of black patent malts - some chocolate mixed with some burnt toast. There are also hints of hops in the aroma. The flavor follows the nose: thick black malt character with lots of burnt and dark chocolate flavors. There is also a firm level of fruity, floral, bitter hops. The finish is full, roasty, and bittersweet. The mouthfeel is full in body and has just the right level of effervescence - not quite creamy, but suitably lightened. Overall, an extremely well-made robust porter.

A solid porter, with a tad more hops than most porters I’ve had. Pairs great with a steak at the Great Lakes retaurant. Anymore, however, it seems to be lacking the fruit sweetness and complexity that I have grown so fond of. It does have a nice medium mouthfeel and a refreshing amount of hops. Certainly worth a try, especially with red meat.

Almost black opaque pour with a huge chocolate milk head that dies kind of quick but laces nice. Smells of ground coffee, sweet malt and a hint of hops. Tasty brew. Delicious roasted coffee, sweet malt, and a bitter finish. Medium in the mouth with nice carbonation. Sessionable indeed.

A very nice porter. Pours inky black with an off white head keeps decent lacing. Taste of toffee and burnt caramel. Decently hopped. Not too heavy, and at 5.8% ABV a very nice balance of alcohol. Hops a stronger presence than most porters.
