The meaty, smoky aromas emanating from the bottle are a little off-putting, unless you’re standing around an outdoor fire. RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Had this beer on 6/7/2007. Aroma is a nice toasted scent. Color is solid black with good carbonation and a very tight head. Taste is roasted and dry. Starting with a medium body goes down crisp. Finish is a nice roasted malt flavor that ends with a dry feel. It seems more Stout like then Porter. haukur (684), Reykjavik, Iceland

Magnificent porter, sausagy, tiny hints of smoke, very hoppy for a poster, perfect creamyness balanced with superb carbonation. Magnificent beer kerplun1 (11), New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Bottle. This is my favorite porter to date. It is priced low enough where it can double as my "go to" porter for any occasion, which is great. Aroma is satisfying, appearance is dark with a small head that leaves adequate legs on the glass. Mouthfeel is creamy (yet carbonated), soothing and somewhat sweet. I think the flavor is excellent, and it goes wonderful with many types of food. An outstanding porter that gives me utmost respect for the brewery. This one is always in my fridge. precodekeith (27), hamilton, Ohio, USA

Smells & tastes of coffee and chocolate. Smooth finish. A very good porter. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Nice burnt malt flavor too. Decent porter dustiness in the finish. Very good StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 30, 2007 12oz. bottle - pours very dark brown with ruby highlights under light and a mocha head on top which eventually dissipated to a thin, satiny layer. Aroma is of coffee first, choclate second, hops third, and nutty toffee fourth. Flavour is of more chocolate and coffee along with some smoke, with a very well balanced hop presence which carries on beautifully into the finish giving this porter a nicely bitter/sweet character. The texture is velvety and rich. Excellent porter. One of the best I’ve had. LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
