12oz. bottle - pours very dark brown with ruby highlights under light and a mocha head on top which eventually dissipated to a thin, satiny layer. Aroma is of coffee first, choclate second, hops third, and nutty toffee fourth. Flavour is of more chocolate and coffee along with some smoke, with a very well balanced hop presence which carries on beautifully into the finish giving this porter a nicely bitter/sweet character. The texture is velvety and rich. Excellent porter. One of the best I’ve had.

Pours a nice dark brownish/blck color with a small tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate.Nice big bitter coffee flavor followed by a sweet chocolate aftertaste. Hint of hop bite in there as well.Very good!(Thanks Brewblackhole)

Nov 2005 - Poured dark, dark brown with nice foamy head...little bubbles remained on top during the whole beer. The taste was predominantly roasted malts. Coffee and chocolate were mildly noticeable. Very dry finish with a little hop kick in the end, which I don’t usually like in this style, but fit well here. A well done brew.

Virtually black body with mahogany edges. Small cream colored head settles quickly to a thin, bubbly rim. Sudsy lace does not stick around for very long. Coffee, chocolate, and cream scents combine to create an ultra-attractive mocha milkshake aroma. Resinous, piney hops follow quickly behind, adding a surprising, yet welcomed earthy element. The flavor isn’t quite as impressive, but its appealing nonetheless. I picked up burnt caramel and toasted grains in addition to the aforementioned mocha and piney hop elements. The body tips the scale slightly towards medium-full. Smooth, with a moderate coffee finish. Really nicely done porter.

Aroma is smokey, alcoholic and salty. Entering this I’m a bit surprised that it’s only 5.8% ABV. Still a nice aroma :) Fresh hoppiness over smoke and a touch of liqorice. Very nice but I’d fancy it a bit more assertive.

Sip for sip, one of the best porters out there. Leans toward stoutiness, but helps to prove that porter is often a better beer than stout--more complex, rounded and satisfying. It captures your mouth.

12 oz bottle from capones. Dark brown with some ruby highlights at the bottom of the glass. Small tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and some light floral hops in the background. Taste is alot of chocolate, mild roast/coffee, with light notes of molasses, licorice and tobacco. Medium bodied, perfectly balanced IMHO for a porter. Finishes with some chocolate and light sugar, as well as a mild roast and hop bitterness.

Draught at Capones. Black body with nice head. Nice aroma - roasty, light hops. Creamy mouthfeel with a light hop bite. Smooth. Finish is pretty bitter. Nice porter.
