Aug 19, 2007 12oz. bottle from sam’s chicago. good looking chocolate ruby color. moderate tan head. fantastic full aroma of bitter chocolate and robust malt. excelent chocolatey flavor with plenty of robust coffee and bitter flavors. light fruity cherry flavor appears just before the dry finish. a terrific example of one of my favorite styles.

Aug 15, 2007 Wonderful, complex aroma with a distinct chocolate flavor. Not a whole lot of body despite the fact that it starts off with a strong chocolate taste and finishes roasted and mildly of coffee. Not the biggest fan of Porters, but this one is quite drinkable.

Aug 12, 2007 Poured black with nice size tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and some fruit. Big flavor of coffee followed by some chocolate and fruit. A real roastyness finish.

Aug 11, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s - thanks for making all those long trips Matt! Haven’t had this one since before I started rating so I decided to try along with my favorite porter - GLI Chocolate Thunder. This guy has a nice dark brown body with a med-large beige head. Aroma has a nice roasty malt essence with bits of nut, coffee, and chocolate poking through. Flavor is pleasantly complex with roasty malt and chocolate upfront, a nice hop finish towards the end with coffee throughout. Just a solid, tasty porter that I can drink lots of. As for the Chocolate Thunder? Still my top pick, but EF is the perfect porter for pre-meal and during the meal, while CT is a fantastic dessert. Thank god I can get such great porters in PA!
