Great chocolate and light coffee aromas with a small bit of hazelnut also. Sweet and roasty notes on the taste, neither being real strong, but the flavor is great because of the balance. The roastiness picks up on the finish nicely. A tasty porter. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Poured a solid borwn in color that did allow some light to seep through. However, the light was very thin and weak. Slight tan head that receded to a thinner film. Nose is malty with some bits of smokey wood rising out of its depths. Flavor is quite nice. Not overly done with the smokiness but just the right amount that it holds up well without wearing out the tastebuds. Little bits of licorice candy as well. Heavy peated malts too. Medium mouthfeel that thickens as it warms. Too bad I only have one bottle of this beer. JAF737300 (797), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 14, 2007 POurs a beutiful black/brown with notes of coffee and toast malt. The flavors drive the palate and you get a depth of cocoa and choco;ate. The beer drinks quite smooth. Crafty07 (393), Florence, Kentucky, USA

Everything you want in a bottled porter, taste, aroma, finish.
The only one I’ve ever tried that tops this a Samuel Smith ’Taddy’ Porter.
Pretty damn morbid name for a beer.
But I have to recommend this heartily.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 12, 2007 A very good porter, it has very good malt character of roasted, burnt and nutty malts which leaves a smokey finish. There is a bitter finish from the hops with a slight metallic finish. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Malted roast aroma mixed with chocolate hints. Dark dark brown body with a medium-lasting foamy tan head. Very coffee-like flavour, malt roast. Full body seems thinned. Expected it to be thicker but good as it is.
