Wow. Simultaneously a very typical porter in terms of appearance and palate but totally exceptional in flavor. Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma gives way to excellent coffee/caramel/chocolate taste with a nice level of bitter hops to balance it out. Loved this the first time I tried it and like it even better now. Fantastic stuff, a perfect session beer.

Pours dark, slightly ruddy when held up to the light. Topped with a light tan head. Nose of chocolate, roast and bit of sweet caramel with a light earth and pine hop presence. Flavor is roast, some coffee, chocolate, a bit of roast acidity and a solid bitter finish. Very tasty. Solid porter.

This is what a porter should be. Perfect balance of chocolate, roasted, burnt, and sweet malt. Very easy to drink. Not too sweet, and still a nice rich body. There isn’t much more to say other than this is what a porter should be.

A: Deep dark brown with maroon hints bleeding thru. Big khaki head that dies down nicely. There is some lacing left behind as I pounded this bad boy. S: Aromas of black coffee, bitter chocolate, buttery toffee, and raisins. T: Very bold and complex porter. Nice rich roasted dark malts. Chocolate and coffee dominate. There is a buttery vanilla taste in the background which makes this one especially nice. M: Full bodied with a creamy feel.

Edmund is a nice porter that feels a bit thin on the palate. This might be a little too hoppy for me; I would have liked some more malt for balance, but this is very nice. Honestly not really detecting the coffee taste--as advertised--but I usually don’t.

See thru chestnut with a rocky tan slowly fading tan head. Patchy lacing. Aroma of caramel, coffee, roasted malt, dark fruit and a touch of sourness. Taste of caramel, dark and roasted malts, coffee with a peppy finish. Creamy body with a fuller mouth feel than most porters. Decent enough.

Bottle. Dark, fairly viscous, with a nice tan head. Aromas of chocolate, plums, coffee, and malt. Flavor is packed with rich chocolate malt, with a little roasty coffee note in the background, maybe a little smokiness. Palate is just barely on the thin side of where I’d like it. Overall, a unique and very nice porter, and well-priced in a sixer.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a tumbler. Pours a dark brown with beige head. Nice complexity. The taste is roasted malts, coffee with a hint of chocolate. Best porter I have had.
