Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Dec 26, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a clear amber body with a small, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is malt dominated with a good amount of caramel and toffee. Some nuttiness and hop characters. Taste is similar to the aroma. Well rounded and sweet. Finishes with a little bit of lingering bitterness. Medium bodied and creamy. Overall, its a nice, smooth, easy drinking beer that doesnt stand out, but is quite enjoyable. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with minimal off white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, slight hop citrus. Flavor starts sweet, finishes slightly bitter from hops. Dry finish with a slight bitterness. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA Nov 28, 2008 Great Lakes Eliot Ness is a very clear, very sparkling amber beer with a very dense, creamy, off-white head that shows outstanding retention and lacing. It has a very fresh, malty aroma with maybe a bit of citrus. It has a medium-light body with a dry finish. It’s a mellow flavor that’s a touch sweet, with a slightly fruity bitterness. beezz86 (68), Jasper, Indiana, USA Oct 31, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear amber color with minimal tan head. Had a hint of caramel melt and grassy hops in the aroma. Beer had a light body, thin texture, soft carbonation, and an abrupt finish. The flavor was somewhat sweet, somewhat bitter. Overall, I have never been a fan of amber beers and this one did not change that opinion. This may not be the best opinion to judge this beer on, but I was not a fan. rustbucket0873 (145), Krikville, New York, USA Oct 30, 2008 Very nice amber color, with a light head, there isnt really much aroma. but there is some lacing when drinking it. The taste has hops. with some caramel. Ritterkreuz (179), Seneca Falls, New York, USA Oct 24, 2008 I’m starting to run out of things to say about all these beers. The problem is that this, like so many is a good beer, but its not great, there’s nothing to put this in my upper echelon, so in a few months I’ll most likely forget all about it. heynik1885 (53), tonawanda, New York, USA Oct 23, 2008 Nice copper like pour, with a small light beige color head. Nice malt smell, and taste with a hint of caramel and hops. Well done beer. punkrkr27 (606), Berkley, Michigan, USA Oct 22, 2008 Orange-copper pour with a thin straw colored lace and little head. Big earthy biscuit malt aroma with a hint of molasses, honey, cinnamon, and some ale yeast fruitiness that I can’t quite place. Lots and lots of chewy bread, dough, biscuit, and caramel malt flavors with some fresh fruit and spicy hops on the finish. Solid medium body with plentiful carbonation and a crisp finish. A very tasty and complex, almost ale like lager.
