Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Reddish amber in color with a nice persistent off white head. Good smell that has a balance of hop and malt. Nice hop bite in the taste that fades into a light malty sweetness.

12oz. Pours a good reddish copper with a decent head. Aroma is mostly grass and sweet malt. Body is surprisingly dry and hoppy, perhaps a bit soft on the palate.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of dankman38. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, grain, caramel and hops with a bit of a soapy note. Taste is toasted malts with peach-like fruit notes and grassy hops. Medium bodied.

Poured from the bottle into a double walled pint glass. Pour produced a dark amber body, topped with an off white head of foam, featuring decent lacing. Sweet, nutty aroma, kind of like pecan pie. Crisp mouthfeel, with a sour flavor, crossing over to dry bitterness at the end. Citrus notes on the palate, with a dry hops note lingering at the end. The beer goes down easily enough, though the bitterness lingers a little too long for my liking.

From bottle... poured amber with small white head. It was sparkling too. Aroma was nutty with some hops. Somewhat sweet flavor with slightly bitter ending. Not great, but nice.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear amber body with a small, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is malt dominated with a good amount of caramel and toffee. Some nuttiness and hop characters. Taste is similar to the aroma. Well rounded and sweet. Finishes with a little bit of lingering bitterness. Medium bodied and creamy. Overall, its a nice, smooth, easy drinking beer that doesnt stand out, but is quite enjoyable.

Great Lakes Eliot Ness is a very clear, very sparkling amber beer with a very dense, creamy, off-white head that shows outstanding retention and lacing. It has a very fresh, malty aroma with maybe a bit of citrus. It has a medium-light body with a dry finish. It’s a mellow flavor that’s a touch sweet, with a slightly fruity bitterness.
