Jul 16, 2008 Poured reddish with a nice whitish head. Nice sweetish aroma. Good blend of maltiness and hop bite, kind of non-descript, but is very drinkable. This brewery seems to do a consistenly good job with the middle of the road brew styles and making them a little more interesting.

Jul 5, 2008 First time rating this style so I can’t compare to others. On tap, reddish amber with an impressive head. Malty aroma with some nose tingling hops in there. Sweet and bitter flavor almost like a backwards Burning River. Very clean mouthfeel and finish. This beer is not overpowering in any area but still has a lot of flavor.

Jun 29, 2008 Bottle acquired via trade with polomagnifico...THANKS RYAN!!! This is a great beer. Of late, I’ve noticed that many "amber" beers feel like they have to kick in an overwhelming amount of hops. With Lagunitas Lucky 13, I thought it worked. With Green Flash’s Hop Head Red, I didn’t. This one is a throw back to the traditional amber we all used to know and love. Red bordering burnt orange in color. Crystal clear, with impressive carbonation and an ivory head that leaves significant lacing inside of the glass. Aroma is toffee, caramel, and a hint of roasted nuts. Flavor is mostly malt, with just enough hops to balance it out. Highly drinkable...clean and refreshing. Wish this was available in AZ!!!

Jun 29, 2008 Amber color......thick, fluffy head. Faint malt aroma. Sweet malt flavor in the front......slightly crisp mouthfeel. Malty richness develops in the back, with a finish that has a slight bitterness.

Jun 22, 2008 Amber, red, Vienna? Whatever the style, this lager bores me. Maybe it is just the style that bores me because Eliot Ness is the top rated beer in its class. Dark amber in color without much of an aroma, this beer is full of caramel malts and light hops. But overall, this beer is pretty nondescript and not much in the way of unique or special flavors.

Jun 20, 2008 Tomato and fruity aroma. Reddish amber color with a miminimal head. Flavor is lightly bitter with a sweet caramelized sugar balance. Palate is medium creamy with a zippy carbonation. Very good Vienna.
