| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 16, 2007 From the bottle, courtesy of MrBendo, pours a deep coppery red with a thick but disipating off white head, nice lacing. Smells of malts as well as cinnamon. Surprising and interesting aroma. Taste is earthy, with some malts and clove-like spice. Thin, but not watery. As it warms, the flavor does tail off a bit. cking (1019), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2007 Rated 2/18/06: Yet another wonderful beer from Great Lakes. This lager pours a rich amber color and is topped with a thick creamy tan head. Mild carbonation and minimal lacing, this beer simply looks smooth. The aroma primarily consists of sweet malts, I am not able to catch the faint hop nose that is promised on the bottle. The flavor is outstanding for this style. The sweet malts are dominant, the hops although minimal do make themselves present in the taste. Maybe Mr. Ness just needed to warm up a bit. Thick creamy mouthfeel with a smooth finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2007 Had on tap at local bar...Poured a nice light copper color. Very malty. Which I loved. Taste is almost pure sweet malt, maybe a hint of toffee or caramel. Very drinkable! nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2007 Draft, Clevleand airport. Copper-red with small head that hangs and leaves nice frosty lace. Aroma is malty and sourish. I think this beer and some others sampled at this location have seen some hours at elevated keg temperatures; I suspect in transport from the brewery. Flavor is toasted nut and grain, with nice slight hop balance. Palate is light-medium and fizzy, with some hop tingle at the end. Hop more noticeable in the aftertaste, pretty nice. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2007 Pours a nice reddish amber color with a off white one finger head with fair retention and lacing. Aroma is all sweet malts. Taste is slightly offputting to me -- this might be an old bottle. Smooth malts with hints of sweetness with a slightly sour off flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and refreshing. Very drinkable. locarboy (115), USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 4, 2007 Nice pour. Creamy head and orange amber clear color. Full flavor with a great balance. Another great effort from great lakes. Toffee caramel with lingering bitterness that is just right. Great from the first sip to the last. Yes, I’ll have another.
