lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA Nov 30, 2006 Updated: Feb 14, 2007pours a clear copper, amber color with a nice one finger off white head. aroma is a faint hops with a better than average faint lager smell. has a light body with some lacing. the flavor is a little sweet better than average lager taste and there is a flavor that i can not make out, but it is good like a little sugar cane or something. it also has a small dry hoppy aftertaste as well. awsome lager one of the best i have had i would mark it higher if it had a stronger aroma. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 25, 2006 Had to fight pretty hard to get a decent head on this one. Off white and thin with minimal carbonation. Weak aroma with some bready malts, bit of bitter hops and yes as willblake says, pretzel like. Color is a bright dark amber. Light malts and a bit of sweetness. Hint of bitterness from the hops. Little dry and astringent at the finish. Decent brew. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Nov 23, 2006 23.11.06 12oz bottle dated best before Oct06, thanks to OhioDad. I know I’ve had this an I’m surprised I’ve never rated it. Well, it’s good as I recalled. Nice pretzel-like malt profile, medium to full bodied, slightly sweet with notes of honey, plum, and graham, and a quick, herbal, earthy hop finish. Reminds of Flying Fish Oktoberfish. ExSpectator (65), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 5, 2006 Updated: Nov 9, 2006Pours a dark amber. Aroma of hops, vanilla, and caramel. Tastes like that as well. One of my favorites from Great Lakes, along with the Fitzgerald. hobyahs (24), USA Nov 1, 2006 orangeish-brown color, aftertaste is good but not strong, some caramel flavor. Doesn’t live up entirely to it’s high expectations. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Oct 24, 2006 Great. Poured a nice red with a lacing foam. Aroma is hoppy and sweet caramel. Flavor is hops at first, but is very balanced by sweet caramel. porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Oct 19, 2006 (Bottle (best by 10/21/06) via trade with OhioDad, thanks Scott!) Nice, but a little timid for flavor...Pours clear burnt orange with a few fingers of orange-tinted cream-colored head. Nose of vanilla and caramel. Mouthfeel smooth but fairly prickly. Sloppy lacing. Tastes of toasted caramel maltiness with some bitterness in finish. A nice flavor but on the weaker side IMO. Would rank it below Brooklyn Lager or even Z Street Vienna. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Oct 18, 2006 From 12oz Bottle. Lovely,
transparent pour of rich mahogany, topped with a well sustaining head of ivory foam. Pleasant malty aromas of light vanilla, maple, and almond skins waft from my glass, accompanied by a touch of herbal hops for balance. Crisply carbonated, light, refreshing mouthfeel. Mmm... very nice. Subtly layered malt flavors roll gracefully across the tongue. Some nice caramelized maply syrup melds nicely with some woody bark before finishing with a final smack of nutty, light chocolate brownies. Thanks, Tom!
