Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Another can’t miss from Great Lakes. Disappointed that they have decided to distribute the Holy Moses instead of this beer. Nicely hopped with carmelized malts. I have enjoyed this for years, and will now have a harder time finding it.

Bottle from The_Epeeist; Thanks Chris; Nose of grain and caramel malt; kind of lagerish; color of oxidized copper with a small, quick to disappear, beige haed; flavor of malt, caramel, and raisins, with a molasses hint, leading to a small hop finish.

Bottle. Dark amber body with a thick film of bubbles. Nose-apple, hay, caramel. Taste-sweet husk, lactic, hay, low-medium bitterness, apple juice, lightly syrupy. Pretty good, but can be easily summed up in four words: apple juice and husk.

Sampled at Great Lakes. This one got sort of lost in the bunch at the great lakes samplefest. Got to see the bullet holes on the tour by the by... anyway, the beer pours a nice dark amber. Spicy raisin hops and dark fruit on the palate. Moderately thorough roasted malts and some lighter dry malts thrown in. A smooth brew that I will need to redrink.

From bottle. Dark amber pour with tan head. Nose of caramel malts, spicy hops and raisin underneath. Flavor follows with some light fruits as well. Nice.
