bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 1, 2006 Bottle. A very good lager. Lagers are not my beer of choice but I’ll give anything from GL a shot. I found this beer to be much more favorable on tap. Nice amber, copper color with off head average head. Smell is a bit flat, malty, tea. Flavor is malty, a hint of fruit, tea, nutty a bit. A touch of hoppiness at the finish. A smooth lager. madsberg (4869), Søborg, Denmark Aug 30, 2006 Bottled. Amber coloured. Uncleaer. Light brown head. Sweet and herbal nose with light caramelly notes. Flavour is herbal and caramelly. Light cocoanotes and flowery. Medium body. Herbal bitterness in the end. Thanks to Probiere for this very nice beer. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Aug 29, 2006 Bottled. Amber coloured. Nutty and malty aroma with notes of old fruits. Malty flavour with notes of tea and some hops in the finish. UnsofistaCat (222), Garden City, Michigan, USA Aug 27, 2006 I’m actually shocked how high this was rated. I had been waiting a long time to try it. Thought it was thin, overly carbonated and a tad sour. On tap somewhere in Cleveland. jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA Aug 25, 2006 brown-copper clear liquid with not much head save for a light white ring around the edge (hopefully a result of the glass and not the beer) . smells like a caramel helles, clean yeast notes and minimal hops presence but sweet and darker than a regular dortmunder or helles. nothing wrong with this beer, which is perhaps the biggest compliment someone can give a normal lager. refreshing, but i’ll take their dortmunder gold over this. CharlesDarwin (1821), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Aug 24, 2006 12 Oz Bottle. A tall cool drink of crystalline florid rock salt plunks down on the table. Carbonation expands, taking with it viscous foams of ivory. I walk by a fresh caramel corn stand in a Des Moines mall. From across the hall a Flower Stands open and cuts their rose stems. A Hmong women opens a pack of M&M peanuts, hands two to her children, drops one and eats the rest in a fell swoop. Outside, my humours entertain a late April breeze, while savouring lightly roasted Carne Asada from a roadside stand in the Salton Valley, fresh with grilled corn and chicken. The tortilla is salty. My fresh local multi-grain pops from the toaster and I slather it with honey butter. On the long draw, I gather some sweet grass.
Refined. Exacted. A deft and delectable Vienna with scrumptous malt and well-played noticable hops. Palate is near perfection. Fantastic. TerryR (382), Oswego, Illinois, USA Aug 23, 2006 Beautiful amber with a white head that nearly disappears. Carmel/malt nose. More of the same in the flavor. Smooth finish. Very nice and drinkable, but I agree with Adverse2Bitter that it seems a bit over rated. daveco67 (18), Marion, Iowa, USA Aug 23, 2006 Pours amber in color (shocking huh?). Wonderful malt aroma. Fairly good mouthfeel. Good malt center with nice bitterness at the end. Great balance.
