Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Not sure what all the fuss is about this beer. Really nothing unusual. Well made for sure, but nothing to go crazy about. Good on a hot day.

Malty, grain, yeast, green olive and licorice. Not too much carbonation. Acidic with subtle sweet counterbalance and body is not too heavy. Even citrus. Many notes without being muddled. Not my thing but well made.

Bottle. Pours a nice rich dark amber color with a medium off white head. Very nice hop aroma. Taste of toasted malts with a hint of brown sugar. Finishes with a bit of caramel and hoppy bitterness on the after taste. A great beer from Great Lakes!

bottle. Aroma: Toasted malts, and a hint of roasted nuts. Also getting a touch of fresh grain. Appearance: Rich coppery red and clear. Head was full and off-white, but diminished quickly. Light lacing. Flavor: Lots of toasty malt with notes of citrus and grass. Also getting a little brown sugar. Bitterness was just right and melded well with the malt flavor. Palate: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Finish was crisp, but could have been a little crisper. Overall: A nice, smooth, easy drinking beer with enough flavor to keep it interesting.

Copper color, when poured properly it has very little head. Noteable hop and grain aroma. Both bitter and sweet at the same time, wholly unlike ligher lagers or black lager- much richer. Tasting notes: Nuts, yeast, grain and a hint of brown spice; taste lingers well after the beer is gone.

12 oz bottle. Clear amber brown with an airy, dirty tan head that quickly deflates. Woody and nutty; some molasses and green olives. Mild carb yields to licorice and orange pith, but subtle. A new style for me. Like a porter-lager mix. Somewhat flat.

Thanks to Secret Santa for this one. Pours deep coppery with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of muffiny malts, caramel, toffee, some vinous notes, and some hopcitrus. The flavor is caramel malty, with some hopcitrus and vinous winey notes, along with some slight nuts and fruit.
