Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

12 oz bottle. Clear amber brown with an airy, dirty tan head that quickly deflates. Woody and nutty; some molasses and green olives. Mild carb yields to licorice and orange pith, but subtle. A new style for me. Like a porter-lager mix. Somewhat flat.

Thanks to Secret Santa for this one. Pours deep coppery with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of muffiny malts, caramel, toffee, some vinous notes, and some hopcitrus. The flavor is caramel malty, with some hopcitrus and vinous winey notes, along with some slight nuts and fruit.

The Elliot Ness has a great dark amber color to it. I like the change of pace you go through drinking this lager. It has a great smooth mouthfeel with a nice sweet malt taste. The end is has a sharp bitter edge to it, as does the aftertaste. A nice beer to sit and sip on, and another great product from the Great Lakes Brewery."

Thanks OhioDad. Gorgeous clear deep amber beer, thin off-white head. Sweet toast and caramel, Munich malt, very clean, but rich malt character. Flavour is toasty with a hint of brown sugar. Noble hop aroma and flavour throughout. Great balance and flavour. Creamy body. LIngering breadiness with herbal noble hops. Refreshing, complex, clean and very well made. Their lagers are first-rate.

Bottle from trade with OhioDad. Poured a deep amber color, almost red, with a thin tan head. The aroma was of wheat bread and some caramel hints. The flavor found malts, wheat, and a hint of citrus hops and fruit background. Medium body that was mainly sweet but had a light bitter hit at the end. Nice! Thanks Scott!!

Appearance is dark brown/amber almost pruple-y, with virtually no head. Aroma is faily indistinct with some carmel and wheat malt. Flavor is carmel and wheat malt with some molasses and brown sugar and a hint of fruitiness like grapes and lemon.
